03 CL-S vs. Cadillac CTS

So I'm coming into work this morning on the 101 North and as always there's a bunch of traffic to navigate through. Along my journeys I've discovered that on this particular highway you can make up time by getting off the exits and then jumping back onto the highway immediately via the enterance ramp. So I'm using this technique and a white CTS finds his way behind me. I get off the highway and as I'm getting on the enterance ramp, which is two lanes, I have cars in front of me in the left lane, so I peg it and pass them up in the right lane and notice the CTS is right there with me on my bumper. Hmm, a CTS, never thought about racing one of those, but why not? So for the next mile or two we're playing around, in and out of traffic, until there's a stretch of semi-open road in front of us, I put it to the floor WOT and he does too. Not even a contest. I pulled on him at least three car lenths and shut it down at 90+. I had no idea that they were that slow. I came into work and looked online and they only have 255 HP. Oh well, not a great kill, but none the less it was fun to play around with him. I'm sure he was surprised at how quick the CL was, and well, plus it's nice knowing I paid probably half of what he paid for his new CTS for my pre-owned CL. Anyway, just thought I'd share. Oh, and just to make my day even greater, this was the first time I really got on the CL with the AEM CAI I installed on Wednesday. What an improvement over that shiiety Weapon-R crap I had on it before. it!!!

I know. I knew right away it wasn't a V because I would've been admiring the sweet sound of it's exhaust as it blew my doors off. That's a whole different class of car though. Is there any aftermarket support for the 3.6 CTS though? I know this one was totally stock but just wondering. Like the styling a lot even though it's a GM.

Good race. You were right with 3.6L, though it could have been the 2.8L V-6. The 2.8 is the lease special so there are alot out there. Yes there is after market support for the 3.6 VVT. Which is a fun car to drive especially on a road course track. The handling is unbelieveable. RWD rules! I had one for awhile and wanted to race my CTS 3.6VVT 5 speed SS auto against my friends 03 CL-S 5 speed SS auto but he wouldn't do it.

Hmm, could've been the 2.8L, but I'm thinking it was the 3. what ever it is because it looked like it had the upgraded trim and wheels, but who knows unless I actually asked the guy. I'm sure it's a fun car to drive regardless. You're right, RWD does rule, except in snow and rain! Plus it's kind of fun being able to out run a RWD car in a FWD car.

Hmm, maybe most of them near you are 2.8L's, but I work in Scottsdale, Arizona, where CLS-500's and M5's are common cars, so I'm guessing it was the 3.6. Plus it was hanging in there until I hit vtec. Actually, to illustrate the kind of cars I see on a daily basis, I was coming home on Thursday and a Lambo Gallardo was messing back and forth with the AMG version of the SL-500 and a DENIN M5. It was like a sceen out of "The Canonball Run" or something. I tried to get behind them but ended up switching lanes when traffic became too crowded. I actually took a video of the Gallardo but why post that on our Acura site?! I saw a sick orange/yellow Mercialago roadster turning onto the street I work on and other daily seen cars are 911 turbos, Bently Continental GT's, Maserratis. It's so hard working in this area and feel like my luxury sport coupe is a Civic HF or something!

Glad to hear that you like the AEM much better than the Weapon-R.
AEM is probably a big difference than the drop in K&N you had, right?

ha ha, omg, I would be drolling too much to even be able to react and go WOT if I saw that thing behind me! Actually, I would still probably mess around and go WOT only to see that thing streak past me and get to smell it's sweet exhaust fumes.

Okay, just got that mockery Red, , bad way of describing it I guess. I swear the CTS and I kept our clothes on when we played around. Does that still make me :ghey:?!

The AEM CAI is so much better than any of the set-ups I had on the car, Weapon-R or K&N drop-in. It's not just the butt dyno factor either, I just love the fact there's no more annoying humming and also the throttle delivery seems smoother, too. The Weapon-R always made the car jerk (insert jokes here) a little when I pressed on the throttle. Plus my gas mileage seems to have improved about 1-2 mpg. Can't beat that!

Seriously. I'm usually a calm person but this kid just posts all the time. Gets annoying.

Anyway, check out some video I took of that Lambo on my way home the other day. I think the other is an Aston Martin, but I'm not sure. They both were taken with in a minutes time. It's so ridiculous the cars I see on a daily basis in this area. The worst is when it's a $100,000+ car being driven by a 17 year old kid that daddy let borrow the car.

I was just laughing at the fact you can hear Tom Lycus in the background of the two videos. That dude is too funny! Oh, and yeah, it is the new Jag. I realized that after I wrote it was an Auston Martin. Also I think the Lambo is a Merciallago, not a Gallardo. Anyway they're both sick cars, and quite common around my parts. Still love my CL-S tho!!!

I aint even impressed by the cars.
What I am most impressed about is the damn quality of that camera phone and your skill for filming while in the car and in traffic.

+1 for the camera phone quality
+1 for skill while driving in traffic and filming 2 sick cars.

-1 for rich bastards

I think I'm going to keep my camera handy all the time now when I drive home so I can document the sick rides I see around where I work. Notice I say around where I work, not where I live! Whole different type of rides on that side of town, mostly with 13" rims that stick out a foot past the wheel wells and have candy purple paint jobs with hydrolics.

Thanks, man. It's not a camera phone, though. I have a Canon digital camera that has a movie mode and I always keep my camera in my car just in case I see something worth shooting. That's why it's easy to film when driving because I can tilt the display toward me even though the camera is at an angle so I can get a good shot while keeping my eyes on the road in front of me as much as posible. This is one of my favorite shots from the drivers seat...

Yes and yes.

I see kids, and I stress kids, driving supercharged Land Rovers and other miscellanious $70,000 + cars all the time. The worst was this kid driving a Lambo that daddy let him take to a local car show one Saturday night. He was revving the shizzit out of it and people were gathered round like it was the first time they've heard an exotic revved. It was sad. I'm sure daddy would not have approved.
