I know there have been a lot of topics on gas mileadge, I was wondering what mods will increase your gas mpg? And what you can do to help the mpg for our cars? Cold air intake? Plugs/wires? And what brands do you guys suggest? Thanks for your help!

K&N will give you supposidly better gas milage according to the FAQ it is 4mpg highway.....I find that hard to believe since I am already getting 32mpg at 75mph....

 

Any mod that increases the amount of air into the engine and increases exhaust out of the engine is going to increase your gas mileage, the problem is keeping your foot out of the accelerator. I should probably be getting better gas mileage than stock but I also go WOT on average twice a day.

As far as brands for CAI's go, I just put on a AEM CAI and I love it. Just PLEEEZE don't make my mistake originally and get a POS Weapon-R. I'm begging you!!!

 

Theoretically any intake and exhaust (CAI, Headers, etc.) mod should increase fuel economy, though I've never really experienced any difference. The only major significance I've noticed is between qualities of gas. Some gas stations use additives that my CL really likes, and other which I get horrible gas mileage.

I have a ton of mods and if I kept my foot of the gas pedal I can average pretty good mpg.

 

Werd... I've got a heavy right foot, so I usually don't get mileage like some people here get...

Intake and headers have increased mpg for some members, but again, you've got to stay off the gas...

I'm in VTEC almost all the time, and rev up to 7K a bunch of times a day, so my mileage suffers a bit

when i installed my comptech icebox i noticed my gas lasts longer rather than the stock air box.

 

best mod,, buy a civic,, or next year the new 2008 diesel ( the uk accord diesel = 65mpg's)

 

I do kind of miss getting 30+ MPG from my SC'd EP3, but the loss in MPG is so worth it with the CL-S.

 

Sell it and buy a Civic.

Seriously though....I got really good mileage, up to 32 mpg when I had headers, intake and exhausts installed with a tuned Unichip. The mileage was about the same without the chip, but that was only because I had spacers and cooling mods installed.

And that was on a road trip to VA with a full trunk and 2 people in the car.

 

Oh yeah, I get around 30 MPG on the highway, but my highway travel is limited since I'm usually driving in 9-5 traffic or on side streets.

No, I will not sell my CL-S to get another Civic. I'm movin on up, not back down!

and as for mpg savers a CAI is a good coice, or you could always try out the Mighty Turbinator

Yeh....but you're content with the mileage you're getting. I knew I could get better mileage with a different car when I bought my CL. I bought for styling and performance. You can't have everything.

 

mods haven't helped me with increased mpg. what about the o2 sensor? would changing that help restore mpg? i have an '01 cls with 104,000mi. i'm averaging 24mpg. i used to get much better gas milage in the range of 28-32 with a high of 34-35.

 

Check the air filter, fuel filter, 0.2 Sensor, fuel injectors, tune up....
