02' CL S v.s. 01' Prelude

Road work on the main hwy caused a prolonged detour through some off the beaten path through some sleepy town. I'm sitting at an intersection waiting for oncoming traffic to slow so I can make a left turn when this sexy hispanic chick with jet black hair slicked back in a ponytail makes a right hand turn onto the same road I'm about to turn onto.

She's driving a slammed jet black 01' Prelude with red break calipers and two huge chrome pipes jutting out the back. Of course you know I'm salivating so I jump through the intersection with the front tires chirping even with the VSA engaged. I'm following this girl on this two lane road and I can tell she's wants some action. Each time there's a little stretch of empty road she floors it and sends a blast of noise from her dual pipes like a bee hive full of angry, agitated worker bees on steroids.

As soon as we come to the exit to get back on the main highway she's goosing the accelerator. At one point I inch up to her bumper just for a second and smile at her reflection in her rearview mirror. She looks back at me wearing her Chanel sunglasses with a hard terminator looking stare, then puts her eyes back on the road.

We're on the merge ramp that loops a deep, sharp right enough to warrant a 25mph speed limit rating. I can tell from the exhaust note she's in about 3rd gear. I switch to SS mode and hold 2nd gear. We're both poised all the way through the loop until it's time to merge into the faster oncoming traffic to our left. At first she gives her car a slight launch and I'm about 3 carlengths behind her. All of a sudden she gives her prelude everything she's got. Noise is blasting through those huge chrome pipes like a small propellored plane and she flies from the far outside line over 2 lanes to the middle of the highway.

I'm still in 2nd gear and simply roar up to the top of 2nd and the VTEC growls open. She held her pull on me for a few seconds as I upshift to 3rd. In the middle of third I swoop over to her side where I can hear air being SUCKED under her hood like an arctic wind surging through a drain pipe. While we're side by side she gives a slight smile while she's standing on her accelerator but it's over at the top of third as I get 1, 2, then 3 car lengths on her. She's still in the lane next to me trying to keep up but once I upshift to 4th there's really no point.

I pull over to the outside slower lane and she pulls over right behind me but keeps a respectful 3 to 4 car lengths behind me even though we've both slowed to 65mph. I continue down the interstate as she merges over to the next exit to go I-459 South. She hits the accelerator again meeting right up next to me before we split our separate ways.

I'm not too far from my exit when I ease up on a silver 350Z cruising in the passing lane. I eased up side-by-side with him enough to look at his girlfriend and accelerated past past him four lanes away. All of a sudden I notice in my rearview mirror this dude WHIP his car over to the lane next to me and starts approaching me aggressively. I started laughing as he roared past me as I took my exit to go home.

Damn every time I read one of your kill posts I laugh how creatively you describe the encounters, LOL. Was the lude a type-SH? I'm tryin to convince my boy in getting one of those, but he's all hung up on the 95 Prelude SR-V(in Canada)/Si(in US I think). Anyways good kill story as usual.

There was no way I could tell if the one I was racing was even the type S or the type SH model. If there was any wheelspin, which doesn't happen in the SH modeel due to the Active Torque Transfer System (ATTS), I wouldn't have been able to hear it over those huge ass, dual chrome pipes. I was amazed at her acceleration though. I actually had to put a little effort into passing her. The base model only puts out 200HP but I'm thinking she had at least an extra 20HP and a few smigins of torque.

I don't know what the Canadian labeling means but tell him to hang it up with the Si. Get the 01' type-SH model, which is what I know everyone in metro Atlanta has snatched up and modded. Nearly every Prelude I run into over there has carbon fiber this and carbon fiber that and slammed/turbocharged/NOS/Supercharged that with mod stickers and Japanese symbols out the ying yang all over their cars.

What a lot of people don't understand on this board is I live in Birmingham, AL. The hometown of Pleasant Grove were the Alabama boys (Bobby and Davie Allison, Neil Bonnett, etc.) were born and raised is only a few miles further South. A few miles East and you'll run into the world famous Talladega Raceway. They also filmed some of the movie 'Smokie and the Bandit' tearing up I-65.

People around here race on the roads like their out of their minds especially on I-459. It was estimated by the local authorities that the average speed of ticketed civilians was over 110mph, the highest ticket being 125mph. But even as fast as some people race up and down the interstate here they're even worse in Metro Atlanta.

:killer:

Thanks for the vote of confidence. Out of all the discussion boards I've been on, in all my years of being online, this is the only site I've been on where members nag other members with all this :killer: noise. If it were left up to you the engine block of an Acura would be made of recycled trash bags with forged toilet tissue pistons and a SOHC made of Bazooka Joe bubble gum.

Ever heard of a word called moderation ? It's something I do quite often. Even when I do race I don't dog my car and I don't blast down the road for hundreds of miles at a time. If I can put over 280,000 miles on a CL2.2 and only need to replace the valve cover gasket, a radiator, and an auto transmission (due to high, high mileage) I can sure as hell see myself putting 200,000 miles of trouble free maintenance (not counting routine) on my car. Have a nice day and I hear that EX-LAX does wonders for constipation.

look who's talking about "Moderation".... maybe you should moderate your driving so you car will live longer? 260HP engine is a lot harder on driveline components than a measly 150HP one and it is a known fact that the auto cannot withstand heavy repeated abuse.

If I came up on a chick driving a car like that, I wouldn't race her... I would try to holler at her. Then once she removes those alien eye glasses and exposes her "true Beauty" I would get on the accelerator. (most chicks cover up there face its sad but true)

Thumbs down

i used to like looking at the street encounters till usurper starting whoring them up with his stupid tails. Lets see if i can match his writing style: "i was giving to usurpers' girl doggystyle when she broke wind that smelt of a san francisco fish market. It was than that i suddenly and violantly vommited on her tan tatooed back. the vommit was green and burned on the way up like the craps i had just passed onto his dirty girl" If you want to be a writer..... write a book... dont feel a forum with stories about how you "killed that minivan"

Potentially could have been funny if it wasn't riddled with poor grammar and spelling.

Also very unnecessary. USURPER may go too far with the similes, but you don't have to click on his threads.

While I'm at it, I'm gonna throw in my opinion. USURPER, I think your stories would be just as good, if not better, if you toned down the similes a bit. It almost seems like you're trying too hard and draws away from the story.

I'm not picking sides here, cause honestly I wasn't a big fan of USURPER in the Stratus thread, but its kind of getting out of hand here in Street Encounters.

ATTS has nothing to do with the wheels spining, ATTS puts the power to the outside wheel in a corner and also pulses the opisite rear brake, If you beat this prelude I highly doubt that she was racing you or if she was I have a hard time beliving it was a 5speed and not auto witch are 2 verry diferent. If you beat it it was most likely auto.

I really don't think a CL-S would have a hard time beating a Prelude 5 speed or auto.

Anyone who runs a high or mid 15 in a lude does not know how to drive and should not own one. I own a cls and a 5th gen lude right now and I'm telling you the cls stands no chance. An auto lude does run about a 15.5 but they are not the same car at all. A cls alo weighs about 400lbs more than a lude.

Of the four-cylinder cars in the test, the Prelude's 2.2-liter is the biggest. This gives it an advantage in grunt, with 156 lb-ft of torque being produced at 5,250 rpm. At low speeds, the extra torque goes toward moving the Prelude's relatively heavy 3,042-pound curb weight. But once it's rolling and the tach spins past 5,000 rpm, the VTEC variable valve timing system activates, and the Prelude accelerates with gusto. The engine and exhaust notes are more mechanical in sound than the other cars', but the power is there with 200 hp being developed at 7,000 rpm. We recorded a 0-to-60-mph time of 7.2 seconds with the quarter-mile flying by at 15.6 seconds at 90.1 mph. These aren't stellar numbers, but they are good enough to beat out the two V6-powered cars as well as the GTI.

I found this road test on edmunds the test car was a 2001 Honda Prelude SH 5 speed. The slowest time I could find for an auto CL-S was 0-60 in 6.4 seconds. There is no way stock vs stock a lude will take a CL-S.

2001 prelue SH specs (last model year)

200 HP and it is the heaviest at 3042lbs -->15.21 lb per HP

2001 CL type S is 260HP and weighs in at 3525 (heaviest) lbs -->13.56lb per HP

exactly how does a Prelude SH win again?

add headers to a CL and the weight to hp ratio drops to 12.16lb per HP how many HP does a Prelude get from I and E? I seriously doubt it is 30HP that a CL gets from headers

BECAUSE A STOCK CAR CAN ONLY DO SO MUCH!!! holy fuck!!!

If a stock CL-S is capable of doing a 14.5, a skilled driver will not be able to pull off a 12, i dont care who you are.

I was exaggerating, but my point was, a skilled driver isnt going to knock off huge tenths of seconds more then what the car is able to do from the factory.

He managed that time with an Icebox and Drag Radials.

There was a guy on the Beemer forums that ran a 14.0 or 14.1. Forgot what the slip said on a stock 6 speed.

And AcuraCLPoserTypeS please get off these forums. Or do I have to remind you about your credibilty through that thread you got owned on?

i think they were referring to stock CL6's. they usually run lower 14's with proper traction. and easily high 13's with some bolt ons. the problem with our cars have always been getting the tires to grip on the first 2 gears. I always have problems launching hard without much wheel spin.

but hey... what did happen to this tread? lol this was prelude vs CL, now just a post for 1/4 times for our cars haha
