TPMS Question

I got a set of TL A-Spec rims and I need to put TPMS sensors in them, can I buy any Acura/Honda TPMS sensors, or do I have to buy sensors specific to the TSX or TL? I'm not sure if certain sensors work only with specific Acura models (TL or TSX)... does it really matter?

I know it's a silly question, but I don't want to blow $100 and the sensors not work.

Thanks in advance.

you should be able to transfer your TPMS valve stems into the TL rims fom your OEM TSX rims, if it doesn't fit its because the hole size is different; meaning there isn't anyway to make it fit.
you can also put the TPMS valve stem into aftermarket rims as long as its compatible. for example, i know for a fact that if you goto certan aftermarket wheel sites, they will have a wheel chart which shows compatibility.
hope that helps.

TL tpms and TSX tpms are not the same.

The TSX tpms is the same as the RDX and I think the MDX.
the TL is not the same at all.

either take the tpms sensors from your old TSX oem rims and swap them,
or go to ebaY and buy new ones for $100.

I bought new ones for $100, worth it to me.

Now I'll have working tpms in my stocks and in my aftermarkets.
I can switch whenever with no trouble.

Just to clear things up... I'm using my OEM TSX wheels/rims for my winter setup, so I'm keeping those untouched.

As for the new rims, they're already wrapped with tires and I'll need to go to a tire shop to unmount them to install the TPMS. But I'm unsure which ones to get... the TL or TSX TPMS sensors. I'm not sure if TL sensors are compatible only with the TL or the TSX TPMS sensors with the TSX.

Thanks for your help though

You need to go to ebay and buy these:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/4-ACU...spagenameZWDVW

He's a great guy, these are exactly what you need.
They're not used like they say, it's just a generic ad to cover his a$$.

I bought a set from him, they're perfect.

TL tpms will NOT work on the TSX.

I went to the Acura parts cataloge to be sure.
These are indeed exactly what you need.

And they do indeed work on the TSX, MDX and RDX, but that's it.

You're welcome and congrats on the new shoes!!

Yeah, I was looking at these, and I emailed him to ask if they fit on TL rims and he said no... I know a couple members here that have installed their TSX TPMS sensors onto TL wheels... so I think they'll work on the A-Specs.

what aftermarket wheels did you end up getting?

Thanks for the help and hopefully I'll put some pics of my new mods once I get these sensors in.

I'm getting AME Tracer FS-01's.

They certainly should and probably will fit into the TL rims.
I don't see why they wouldn't fit in them.

The sensors seem to me to have a fairly standard valve stem size for
a TPMS sensor, so I wouldn't think it would be hard to fit them in too many rims.

I haven't read of too much of this though on the forum.

Anyone else have personal experiece out there?
Or does everyone just ignore that little orange "i" on the dash and
leave the TPMS sensors out of the rims?

i also do not see why they would not fit in the TL wheels. maybe the seller misunderstood you and though you were asking if they worked with TLs? Do you know what year the Aspec wheels are? TLs started coming with TPMS in 2006.

Also, one thing you might want to do is go over to the TL forum and ask if anyone has sensors in their Aspec wheels. If they do, then the TSX sensors will definitely fit.

The seller told me that the aspecs came off a 2004, so there aren't TPMS in them. I searched on the TL forum and Kennedy put 06 TPMS sensors on his 05 ASpec wheels with no problems. So I don't think it should be a problem.

Now I just have to buy them and find a reputable place around NOVA to install them. Pohanka quoted me $200 for the install CGTSX, where did you go to get the TPMS mounted on your TL wheels? I'm just worried about the installer scratching the wheels.
