Went to the 1/8 tonight

My best run was 10.879 @ 66.6 mph. My 60' was 2.665 with a RT of .813. I am kind of disappointed to say the least. I know the TSX is slow, but my E/T roughly equates to a 17 second flat 1/4 mile time. I didn't think that with I/H/E/cat that my car would be THAT much of a dog. I estimated at least low 16's. It is a 5AT, but nonetheless, I am still shocked.

your 60' is really bad.. work on that and you'll have better numbers.. try to get those tires spinning off the line... just keep practicing

How though? I brake torque'd it and everything. And if they would spin, it would be a little chirp. You think its my 18's? They are supposed to be lighter than my stocks, though.

Yeah, of course. VSA off and shifting with SS. Would switching my CAI into SRI mode help maybe since it has more torque down low? Perhaps that could be beneficial my 60'?

18's are always slower

18's are always gonna be slower then 17's because of the diameter

Also don't worry about reaction time, the clock starts after you leave NOT when the light turns green

Try letting some air out of the front tires, something like 26psi to start and go lower if you feel you need to after a few runs.. i dont know if you could hold the break or something before you go to get a good launch? How do you take off? are you just pressing on the pedal or mashing the pedal? I dont know if that would help..

Its the 18s. How heavy are they, how heavy are your tires?

The combination of having the weight spread out far from the axis of rotation and a heavy rim and tire will definitely affect your launch and power throughout your 1/8 mile. Even your 18 in rim weighed the same as a 17, you'd still have a slower time with the 18s.

With the TSX's lack or torque, and the fact that your car has a 5at, rim and tire weight, and rim size will have a noticeable effect on such a short run.

Additionally, since its a 1/8 of a mile, you're mostly dealing with the 5AT's worst gears.....first and second. We should have a gear between those 2. I would suspect that if you did the whole 1/4 mile, you would do better then 17.

Anyone think that putting my CAI into SRI mode might help at at? Maybe the better low end torque would make for a better 60'?

Nah enough to really make a difference. You'll get a better response but not added torque.

First drop your tire psi to 20lbs , turn off VSA, continue to power break to 3 grand, Leave on the last yellow light to drop that 60'/reaction time and switch gears manually. Take the 18" rims off and drop weight in the trunk like you did. Your 2.3 60' is not bad at all. The 5AT is killing you. I have a 6MT with some mods and I ran a 14.8 last night with 60' slightly faster than yours and the 9 sec. car next to me ran the same 60' time.

reaction time .589
60ft - 2.194
330 - 6.348
1/8 - 9.722
mph - 73.66
1000 - 12.574
1/4 - 14.868
mph - 94.41
