Well, we atleast know that if these numbers are right... then the TSX was doing roughly the same to be competitive.

Haha! 5 speed!

But pretty impressive specs. If they squeezed that much from a 2.3 I wonder what ourr 2.4 is capable of? Seeing our bore and stroke might be a 'lil more square.

Well, remember, custom ECUs, tons of tuning... think Hytech.

DRIVETRAIN: Xtrac 5 Speed Sequential

I'd take a 5 speed sequential gearbox any day. Well, I would if I didn't care about highway cruising.

That's also why RTR went to one in the 07 season. 1 milisecond savings over the course of a race means seconds. RTR's problem was they got more TB restriction from the SCCA. I think they needed a new winner this year. Mazda is huge in Touring Car.

I remember reading an interview with Peter Cunningham about their K24 engine (I think from temple of vtec). He didn't say exactly the output of their engine, but he did say 'in the neighborhood' of 275hp.

It really seemed like everything was against RTR and the Madzas looked waaay faster this year. It made me think that they were not even gaining weight after a win.

All the teams have ways to sandbag power early in the race season until the weight comes on. I mean, you don't want to go out and blow your wade and have the SCCA penalize you. I'm surprised Mazda wasn't more of a competitor the previous 2 years. But since the TSXs won 2 years in a row, I'm sure RTR saw a restrictor plate modification coming.

Yeah, I remember seeing one of these engines when I was taking a tour of the old Comptech building. They had these engines in the back room and I wasn't allowed to take pictures. When he told me the engines were going on Mazdas, I was pretty surprised haha

Little did you know. I remember hearing about "a tuner that works these motors for Mazda", but the announcers never said who. I wonder if Comptech, since they do a lot of work on Hondas, wanted to keep it hush hush.
