I went to my first Drift show yesterday!!
Holy shite was it fun!!!! I took a lot of pics of all the cars that were there too so I will get those posted later. My battery died during the drifting so I only got a few pics but WOW, I think I am in love with drifting. And maybe I will have to convert the TSX to rwd like they did to that s2000!

I personally don't care about this style. I care about how fast I can take the corners to get faster lap.
Yes drifting judging is subjective but thats what makes it fun!
Its crazy when the cars are going around a corner side ways and passing/nearly hitting each other!

if you want me to be very critical you made the mistake in the first place. You did write "road racing" and I made NO COMMENT towards "road racing" I said in reference to straight line racing, yes there is a difference and you pointed that out, but I never said anything about road racing, I was clear when I said Originally Posted by stphy32

I wasnt even going off your quote, or I would have quoted you like I do others. I was working off the topic of what we were talking about
so can you just calm down
Thanks
Yeah this event was a lot of fun! I think the RS-R event last year at Route 66 was a little better, but it's just plain fun watching drifting events. I have a nice pic that my g/f took of the nissan with the red tire smoke that I'll post later. My crew Deceptions Motorsports was there, but we only had 3 cars in the show. A silver M3, silver accord and carbon GTI. My CRX is still out of commission!
I had a chance to buy a clean Corolla (AE86) for cheap a while back. The owner was even going to throw in an uninstalled red-top japanese motor that he never got around to dropping in! Unfortunately i didn't have the cash at the time. dammit!

that was nice but for $2000 a set, no thanks
Can the red smoke leave any coloring on the rims or does it not really do any damage?

I don't think it leaves any coloring on the rims, no more than regular rubber that could be rubbed off. It just looks like there's red rubber mixed in with the regular black compound from what I saw on some of the used tires. But i'm probably wrong. =P
I wish I woulda gotten to see more demo runs. That's what was so cool about the RS-R drift festival last year. Kinda disappointing that Gushi was driving a ford this year cause he was really good in the Nissan last year.

On drifting: I agree that the judging system seems overly subjective. There were a few runs at the Chicago event where both drivers made really amazing runs, and so the judges' choice of the winner seemed very arbitrary. Also, as to the whole S2000 thing, what the announcer was trying to say was that a stock S2000 is so perfectly balanced and poised that the team running the S2000 had to, basically, fuck up the suspension in order to get the tail to come out. In other words, a stock S2000 is too capable to drift. This is another weird thing about drifting.
Anyway, I took some pictures too—somewhat more drifting and less rice than Stphy's. Maybe I should post them?

Waaaait! Is that finally the pic of you you promised? Or am I late (as usual) to the party and would have missed out on some previous pics you'd have posted?
