What sort of driving school are you looking to take? Racing, defensive driving, or another type?

It will depend on what you are looking for (driving skills vs. certification to race in amateur leagues, etc.).

There are some recommendations in this thread:

edit to add: CG asked my exact question while I was posting.

I did the BMW Driver Training schools and thought they were great value for money.

Here, Mark...try this link

http://www.drivingschools.com

It's a listing of driving schools throughout the country. You can take a look around and see if you find something you're interested in.

Eggsssscelent. Thanks.

I was thinking in terms of Bondurant, Barber, what have you. Seems they all offer a bit of all of the above.

Whatever you take is a step in the right direction. The problem is, as soon as you take one you'll be addicted!

Driving schools are the best performance upgrade you can make.

Check this out. http://www.autocross.com/texasregion...choolintro.htm. Bondurant or Barber would require a vacation and outlay of some coin (not a problem). This might be a good intro though, and local.

Kinda surprising with the Texas Motor Speedway right here that there isn't more action in the Metroplex.

Guess it's because of the redneckness inherent in Nascar/IRL racing.

That's a great place to start. When you get the chance though, head out to Bondurant or Barber. Actually, the best one for a TSX owner would be the school at Mid-Ohio race track. They use RSXs to teach, which would be closer to the TSX in driving dynamics.

I've attended a local driving school a long time ago, which the students use their own cars. It was expensive but well worth it to learn the different aspects of driving. Unfortunately, I started getting speed tickets within weeks after the school due to the addiction of using the new found techniques on the road.

Never took a class with SCCA, but I had a friend who was an SCCA instructor. They know their stuff so the programs should be really good.

There's an EVO school here in a couple weeks, I'm giving serious consideration to going. They are very highly recommended by a number of local autocrossers who have taken them in past years (Phase 1/2).

I took a one day SCCA course years ago, they taught us all about weight transfer, entry and exits of various types of corners. It was definately well worth it !
I was just out at Lime Rock this weekend (Ferrari Challenge) and Skip Barber is there...I'm thinking about signing up for one of their 2 day classes in the future.
The Mid Ohio class using the RSX's looks like a blast ! Perhaps its time for me to visit my relatives out there !!!
I'd highly recommend any driving course...it's only going to make you a better driver.

The thing about Skip Barber is that you have to use one of their cars (Dodge), so while you get the basics, you don't get to test your car's limits.

There's also the National Auto Sport Association's HPDEs, since my husband is currently doing those:

A 2 day session is $299, you use your own car, and I think you might be able to transfer "credits" or enter at a comparable level if you have done SCCA classes.

I wish mid-ohio wasn't 6 hrs away, as I'd love to take a FWD high performance school, although driving a viper at skip barber or ctsv at bondurant.
