weird sound

Hi, i just bought my 2008 tsx, and when accelerating , what sound is it supposed to make ? or is it supposed to be quiet . Because it makes some sort of a weird sound that doesn't sound normal but doesn't sound too bad. If i have the radio on at around 12-15 i cant hear it but it seems to go away after ive been driving for awhile. It happens in the lower gears when accelerating It usually goes away a little bit after warmed up though. Is this just a new car thing ?

More info please. What does it sound like? In general, where is it coming from?

Oh, you must mean that whale going through a jet engine sound. Yeah, that's normal.

Seriously though, how the hell are we even supposed to address this question? You didn't even try to describe it.

Many automatic tsx's 05 and up have some substantial engine whine that leaks into the cabin through the shifter area. It ususally gets higher or lower as you push on the gas pedal. Acura doesn't consider this an "issue." They look at it as a "feature" of the engine. This may be the sound you're hearing.

That's the turbo spooling you're hearing. It makes it so you can do rad tricks like ....

On a serious note, yes, if it's as HI OFECR described it, then it's normal.

yeah .. it seems like it's coming from the shifter area.. and it's automatic so im assuming that you guys are right .. it's just a weird sound i guess it's just part of the engine then i was just kind of worried.

Yeah. It's a pretty annoying sound for a "luxury" car. Engine noise bleeding into the cabin doesn't exactly exude quality, but it's there and it's not something that can be fixed really. I imagine someone could try some sound dampening products to block out the noise under the shifter, but I have no idea how you could do that without blocking the shifter movement really. You kind of get used to it, but it's still this faint high pitched whistling noise that never goes away. Sigh.. Whislting...rattles all over. Most tsx's have these little nit picks. Good thing the ride is fun, albeit stiff
