Weird Cranking Issues
Weird Cranking Issues
I replaced my battery about two months ago and I noticed it starting to crank slow again a few days ago. Yesterday morning I hop in the car and it cranks really slow, then stops as the dash lights dim and the starter clicks. I let it sit for about 30 seconds and then the car starts in one crank (still kinda slow).
I don't think it's the alternator because it's not throwing any codes and I haven't seen any odd voltage issues (flickering/flashing lights etc). It's possible it's the starter but once the car has been running and charging off of the alternator it cranks like it should.
I'm hoping it's just the battery, I would go have it replaced but I got it from a shop in the south bay which is over an hour away.
Any ideas?
btw, the cables are nice and clean and so is the battery ground to the chassis.

Purchase a Equus battery monitor from walmart or amazon.

This will show if battery is getting good charge, holding voltage or declining when off to produce low starting speed.
Good charge voltage is 13.7-14.4 volts.
Engine off over night voltage should still be 12.2 volts for fully charged battery. If voltage is falling to 10-11 volts during starting load, battery may be bad or there's some type of load pulling battery down overnight.
good luck
