Water pump problem
Water pump problem
Hi everyone,
Just bought a 2004 tsx 6 months ago off of a friend who barely drove the car. Low kms at 150k and in good shape.
I’ve had a problem with the water pump as it keeps leaking. I’m currently on my fourth water pump replacement. Here’s the story:
First leak, replaced pump
Second leak, replaced pump (at no cost) because we assumed defect
Third leak, replaced pump (at no cost) and mechanic spent a lot of time bleading the system in case theres an air bubble, changed cap in case it’s building up pressure and causing the weakest link to break (water pump)
Forth leak, replaced pump (at no cost). Mechanic checked pressure again and it seems to be fine, changed water pump brand (all aftermarket)
now I’ve got another leak. This all happened within a 4 month timeframe.
any tips on what to do? It’s obviously not the pump and something else is causing the issue. We don’t think it’s a head gasket issue because when he pressure tested the car, it seems fine. No white smoke, no over heating
- items that have been replaced in the past year: thermostat, hoses, radiator, cap.
another thing that I notice is a lot of rattling with the belt tensioner especially in drive or when the fans kick in. Could that be putting extra pressure on the pump pulley and causing an issue?
Any suggestions would be helpful.
Thank you
