VSA ! - Light stays on
VSA ! - Light stays on
The light goes off when I shut the ignition off and then restart but comes back on as soon as I push the brake pedal with the handbrake released.
Checked the fuses, brake fluid and all connections to ABS unit. The Check engine light did not come on but I still checked the ECU for codes and it was clear.
Anyone had this problem?
I'm out of warranty.

Just a guess...
jack up the car and try to turn the wheels to see if the wheels turn freely. maybe the brake caliber is stuck.
I have seen a guy driving an old car with the brake stuck in one wheel. The guy left a tire mark miles long on the road.

Def not the problem.
You might check to make sure the brake pedal position switch is functioning. With an A/T it's easy to know because the car won't come out of park. With an M/T you'll need to have someone step on the brake pedal while you watch to see if the brake lights come on. The switches have a fairly high failure rate in some Hondas. I've seen a dead brake pedal switch kick a VSA/ABS light before. Otherwise, you'll need to pull a code to see what might be causing a failure.

How is your brake fluid level? If the fluid level drops too much there would not be enough fluid to charge the accumulator used to power the brakes. This can also manifest itself with an abs light also. If this is the case and you don't have a leak it is probably time for new brakes.
I used to have that problem with my '94 Legend.

Problem solved. .....The other day I hit my lock button twice to ensure the alarm was set and the horn did not sound. I then tried the horn itself and it did'nt work either. I wondered if the two problems were related ???? I then checked the horn fuse and found it blown and that it also protected the stoplight circuit. Tested and found a "dead-short " in the circuit and traced it back to the wiring connection in trunk for the dealer installed rear spoiler. The wire connections had been stuffed into the trunck mount arm and they must have got caught on the trunk lining/ trim and ripped the insulating tape from the connections leaving the bare wires to touch together causing the short.
I then fixed the connections, redressed the wires, replaced the 20 A fuse and everything now works and VSA ! light is out.
So I've been driving for almost a week without brake lights. The owners manual does'nt even mention that when the VSA ! light comes on that it could be brake light related.
