Ok.... so I've already gotten this trunk harness thing taken care of about 2 years back... but then my right side brake lights and reverse lights went out. Tried replacing bulbs but that didnt work. Since my car is out of warranty I decided to ask my mechanic to take a look at it and tell me if it was the trunk harness problem since Acura said they would charge me $105 to just take a look at the car and only waive the fee IF it was the trunk harness issue. Just wanted to make sure that it was the trunk harness before I took it in. Anyhow, I leave the car there for 2 hours and I come back the the idiot re-routed the wires to connect the two reverse light wires so the right side reverse lights were tapping into the left side wires. I'm pretty sure, if I take the car to the dealer now they will for sure say that it was my fault that the lights arent working and charge me for everything.

If any of you actually read through this long essay, thanx. Long story short.... need instructions on how to fix/replace the trunk harness myself and what parts I need and their part numbers. Thanx for any help in advance....

 

buy a helm's manual, also check the recall notice for instructions. you royally screwed yourself, i have had exact same problem, did recall 2 years and right side brake/reverse lights went out just recently (in warranty).

if your lights work though, what's the problem?

 

The lights dont work.... well, the mechanic fixed the reverse light but now the brake lights arent working. I asked JTso about fixing the trunk harness before I took it to the mechanic and he said that the re-routing method would work but it wouldnt solve the problem since the wires are getting damaged inside somewhere. That means that other lights can go out later on. And lo and behold... there goes my brake light.

It cant be too difficult to replace the trunk wire harness myself (just installed fogs on my own) so I dont know about screwed. I wonder how much that harness costs though. I've searched for the trunk harness recall notice but I keep coming up with only text and just something that says that there's a recall. No real instructions. Any links to the full scan of the notice?
