Rough engine noise
Hey guys, I'm wondering if any of you experience rough engine noise. I don't exactly know how to describe it but I do have a sound clip of it. One problem, I don't know how to post it. Besides the point. The only mod I did on the engine is adding the icebox at 12k miles. Any feedback is appreciated.
Thanks guys.
Thanks guys.

Thanks CGTSX..... I took the video o my phone so the quality is not the greatest but I hope you guys notice the sound difference.
The volume on this thing is really low..... sorry....

It is a grinding noise..... that is broken off and the tone of the noise will turn faster and faster along with the speend..... I hear a much louder noise when switched to the manuel mode on the frist gear around 3k-3.5k rpm.... is your the same??

I haven't try the manual mode yet but I notice that even when its idling the "rough" noise is very noticeable.......
I will give it a try today see if I could prduce the same as you suggest.

Did you check the icebox to make sure it is still properly sealed? I would also check the icebox filter.

I like that comparison.. yes it sounds like a tractor like noise.... but its constant period..... and I don't even have the A/C on......
What do you mean by older cars?

Hey foolioness, I have 2 machanics, one works in Honda as machanic, to check out the noise and they both said it is a problem w/ the Tranny.......... now, my prob is the freaking machanic w/ Acura did realize the noise, and they are not willing to claim the prob on warranty for some stupid reason.... they keep on saying it is noise due to the winter tires and the after market steele rims.... but the rims are from Honda..... they are just making excuses to avoid claiming warranty for me. My machaic from Honda states it is all BS w/ all excuses they made as the noise is so obvious from the Tranny. I will wait till the late spring to put the stock tires on.... and I will get on the battle w/ the dealership again. Keep me post if you have the save problem. Thx.

OK, I brought the car to the dealer and they determined that the bearings in the tranny caused the noise. They'll fix it under warranty. Thanks Tumby and several of you for pointing it out. So until the tranny comes they going to inprison my car at the dealership and gave me an 05 TSX loaner car..... Now I'm hooked to the XM radio that they have......
and Tumby, maybe this will help you, ask the mechanic to compare the engine noise with another TSX... there's a big noise difference between the two....
My serive rep did just that to the mechanic.....
One of the few times that a service rep was on my side..... good luck Tumby

Great! It seems there is a real diff b/w dealership's services standard in the State and Canada. Those freaking Advisor and Mechanic in Toronto Area are Garbage. They heard the noise from my car but they either insist the prob is caused from the winter noise, or some of them even states there is no problem w/ the vehiche. I will have to find out a way to make them fix my car.
Thx again for your heads up.

Last time they blame the prob to my winter tires but the noise is still here after I put the stock rims and tires back on. I have been a bit busy lately but I shall take it to a dealship and fight for a new tranny again soon.... Any updates from you guys who lives in Canada? As I said previously, the quality on the service between the State and Canada has a huge different.... I wanna see any one from Canada has any luck to get the problem fixed. If so, from which dealer. Thx for your update.

Thread resurrection:
I think I may have the same noise on my 06. I notice it most when driving at highway speed when I completely let off the accelerator. Also, in Sport Shift it is most noticeable in 3rd gear, again when the engine rpm is above 2500 and I let off the accelerator.
OP is this what you experienced? I don't know much about engines, but I though maybe the valve covers were loose or something based on the rough sound of the engine.
