Rotors and Pads being installed right now

For anyoned who has had issues with rotors, vibrating etc.....I was dealing with this issue for about a 1.5 years. it started at around 20K and progressively got worse. I finally got it turned at 60K and at 70 K it starte again. soooooo.....

I purchased Rotora slotted rotors and pads for the front and its being installed by Honda Accord service right now.

I'll let you guys know if it turns out to be a good thing. I may end up doing the rear too.

Im also getting the 90 K tune up .....all of this costing $400 bucks.....I guess no xbox 360 for me until later.

Peace

I too have been curious about the Rotora Slotted rotors. What brand/type pads did you get to go along with them?

I live in Charlotte as well and am curious if you ordered them on-line or did you find them at a local store?

Can you break down the install/purchase price just for the brakes?

Thanks, glad to see another Charlottean on here

This is the information that was sent to me. I ordered it online and it came in about 4-5 days.

The install from Honda of Concorde was $100.00.

Now I have to see if the vibration problem is gone....I HOPE!!

Go Carolina Panthers!

I've had the same problem since I hit 20k on my car. I finally fixed it yesterday with slotted brembo rotors and posi quiet pads. AND DAMN!!!! what a difference.... steering doesn't wiggle anymore when I brake and among other things... .it looks so damn nice... wish I could a put the cross drilled rotors (brembo)

Why?
X-drilled are more prone to stress cracking around the holes. Slotted will give you plenty of heat wicking/pad cooling unless you're racing, at which point you'll have sponsorship to pay for the discs you'll ultimately go through.
For daily road use and the odd track-day here and there, your slotted ones are absolutely more than sufficient.

That's exactly why I installed the slotted. But cross drilled/slotted looks so much nicer... its that greediness side of me taking over...

yeah! I drive all over the carolinas and virginia for work...good thing is that its 80% highway mileage and the company pays me for mileage. I throw that money back towards the payment.

You might argue that my car is depreciating faster, but in less than 3 years, Ive accumulated more than 90 K, but Im also done paying for the car too!

And, as long as Im maintaining it like I should, this car will be worth it to keep, and the mileage is not really an issue for me!

the brakes are working just fine...but I can expect the same of any new brake pad and rotors....the real test will come after 10-15 k.

this morning, I thought I heard some squeaking, but could have been the cars around me? I still need to break in the pads.

My pads are gone! WTF!? I dont drive it hard at all.....friday, Im getting pads replaced...rotors appear to be fine though. Did I get the wrong pads with those slotted rotors?

How do you know their gone? Squeak or you have checked and they are thin? If its just a squeak that may mean you need a brake service...i.e take the pads off give them a scraping and a sanding and clean off brake dust from the calipers/rotors, relube sliders, etc. You may not need new pads. I'm not clear on what you installed on the replacement, but Brembo parts wear very quickly. Anything European is soft at the expense of wear and to the benefit of brake power.

ROTORA Slotted Rotors F $165
ROTORA H2 Ceramic Pads $55

this is what was installed...and the reason I know the pads are going is because today, i was getting my tires rotated,, wheel balanced, etc....and they showed me the pads and....wow.....

Anyhow, I gotta figure out what I want to do next. The slotted rotors are okay, but what Im not sure what I'll do with the pads.

If you need new pads then buy new pads except buy a different brand. You might try the Hawk Ceramic and then you can give us an A vs. B review. Feed the knowledge pool.

I had my rotors replaced twice after being machined twice.... first replaced at 20K and machined at 30K and again replaced at 40K.... Since it was under warranty I got lucky... however I still am not convinced why they start vibrating every 20K... and machine never works on these rotors because they have specific pattern...

My apologies...I did not get pics of the old pads. The service guy said they tossed it out when I got back.

I will post again if the vibration problems return.
