Rotors on Certified 04 TSX

So I am a recent owner of a certified '04 tsx with 32k mi. My steering wheel shakes a little while braking and my bro in law (my personal car expert) says my rotors need to be trimmed. Is this something that should have been covered in the certification process? i am going to try and make them do it either way, but some back up would be helpful.

Also, the rear brakes seem to squeel when i brake. Some people say this is common with acuras. I find it hard to believe that this is the case to the extent that mine are sqeeking. I cringe everytime, to the extent that i won't drive with my windows down. Could this be from the warped rotors? worn brake pads? pad adjustments?should they also fix this with the certification?

Yes most likely they will resurface them for you. This didn't correct my problem
after doing it twice. I replaced them with zinc plated drilled/slotted rotors.
The braking performance is much better (Use good pads also) and those damn rusty ugly stock ones are gone!

The rotors are a common problem. At Honda we replace the rotors under the certification if there is vibration, You should bring it in ASAP so they dont try to blame it on your driving habits.

Thanks a lot for the advice. I am bringing it to them tomorrow for other ongoing stuff (long annoying story that i don't want to get into, but involves someone backing into my car and scratching the front while in the dealers possession).
do you think this will get rid of the squeeling as well?

I also had vibration and just replaced my rotors and pads. It's all too common with Honda/Acura rotors so instead of resurfacing them, I replaced them with Powerslot rotors & Hawk pads. So far so good, only been about 2 weeks though.

I are with luvmytsx. Power slow rotors in the front and hawkpads. about 245 from tsxparts.

Then installing is the thing.

Maybe I will do that at some point. But for now, if the dealer will fix it for free, then I will go with that until the wear is at the point where i need maintenance again. at that point, i guess i will decide if the cost to upgrade the brake system is worth it.

oh... and thanks "say what". seriously

if they trim your rotors or surface grind them flat again, i would recommend you to change your brake pads so that it will "eat-in" properly. Else, just trimming and using yoiur old pads will create uneven braking and then sqeaking to uneven wear on rotors again.

Sometimes squeaking is due to trapped brake dust.
