Resurfaced Front Rotors @ 18k miles

So we all know I'm a bit of a spirited driver, but I am a great driver at the same time. I know how to properly brake and downshift, and I had to finally have my rotors assessed. I've been getting a little bit of vibration for the last 2 weeks, so I decided to have them checked out since I had the car in today to have the oil changed (with Mobil 1 of course) and the tires rotated & balanced. The pads are at about 8mm front and rear, but I had a 3mm variance in the front rotor surface. We resurfaced the front rotors to a true thickness and are hoping that this will last a little while. Otherwise, I'll be needing replacement.

I guess I'm now part of the warped rotors club.

did you take it to the dealer to get it resurfaced? did you have to pay?

I too am a pretty spirited driver and have been using proper braking technique. My car has 21k miles on it right now and while the rotors themselves probably aren't warped, I can tell that there is pad material that has adhered to the surface unevenly resulting in a little stutter when I hit the brakes hard. Annoying, but will get dealt with when I switch to my front pads to Hawk HPS pads.

I had it done at the dealer at the same time of having my maintainance done, as I mentioned above. I had it covered under warranty (no charge), being that there is no sign of abuse and the pads still have lots of life left in them (8mm front and rear). There has been a little bit of trouble reported with the rotors from a few customers that has a bit to do with the fact that they are the same brakes for the RSX-S (that weighs 400 lbs. less).

Hope that's a misprint, because there's no way you could machine out 3mm of runout/parallelism variation from the front rotors and still be over min. thickness. .03mm maybe?

Exactly. Good catch. We just resurfaced them with the on-car resurfacer.
