Rear Rattle

Hey all,

Does anyone else have a constant rattle coming from the rear of the car? I can't decipher exactly where it is coming from... however, it seems as if it might be from the rear headliner or somewhere in the rear seats.

Anyone have this? Mine is very loud, annoying and constant.

Any quik fixes?

Don't have mine yet, but is it possible the rear seat latch is not fastened?

Can you describe your noise a little more? I hear a ticking sound when i go over bumbps. It seems to be coming from the rear headliner..maybe. I havent paid too much attention to it because I have so many other rattles that I am more concerned about.

Rear side air bag cover rattle

Make sure your rear air bag cover is on tight. I was getting the same rattling noise from right rear when I turned on the radio. Checked the right rear air bag and noticed it wasn't on tight like the left one. Hope this helps out.

Airbag cover is tight. I just checked and everything seems to be fitted correctly. I don't know where it's coming from. I guess i'm the only one having this rattle.

maybe check the tools over the spare tire and the space around the spare tire..also do you have anything at all in the back seat or on the floor..if I throw my case in the back, the zipper sometimes rattles on it.

One of my noises was from the rear headliner brushing against the roof of the car. The transition is not high quality, which you'd never know unless you check it out carefully. You can test/reproduce the noise easily, just by tapping against the edge of the headliner where it meets the top of the rear window. The dealer fixed it fast after I made the diagnosis.

Headliner brushing against roof- how did they fix it?

Hey Hammer-

How did the dealer fix this problem of the headliner rubbing against the roof? I have it, too. I am thinking a very sharp utility knife will fix the problem. It's obvious & really annoying, but I don't feel like taking the car into the dealer with all of 225 miles on it.

There are other rattles, too, that I need to find and isolate first.

Thanks

Jeff

hah. Fixed it myself. I pulled the headliner down a little in back (it's not attached near the rear window) and stuffed some foam between the headliner and the roof. That added enough clearance that the headliner foam isn't rubbing against the glass any more. Quiet!

I also think I nailed a glovebox rattle, and thanks to another thread, a rattle in the map light/navi mic unit. *crosses fingers*
