Exclamation Problem with jacking up?

Since the wife is out of town for a few days, I figured now would be a good time to see what's involved with installing the CT heatsheild gasket. So, I go to lift the car as I've done so many times in the past, and this is happening:

How in the hell am I able to jack up the entire side of the car from just the front??? I've never seen this happen before. Whats worse (or better) is that I tried the other side and got the same result. I dont know if I'm just losing my mind or if this is normal. Can anyone confirm this? Im just hoping I'm not having a problem with the rear Tein's.

Side note, I just got back from a 500 mile round trip to Vegas.

Do you have both rear jackstands in place?

No, just on that one side. I did it for now because it just didnt seem normal to have all that weight on the jack point in the front...

Did you recently lower the car if you did maybe that could be the cause. After I lowered my car I am now able to jack up the whole side of the car with one jack.

I have another question. My jack can jack up the front at the center to put jackstands for the front jackpoints. But it is impossible to do for the rear because the jack doesn't go high enough. Any suggestions? Other than a car lift of course.

It was lowered about a year a few months ago. I know for a fact that I've lifted it since then because I always take off the passenger side wheel to do an oil change so I can get to the filter. I would have noticed this then...

To me, it looks like the rear isnt dropping as far as it should. Its almost like the coilover is still under load

Get a low profile high-lift jack.

Haha... what you experienced is normal, especially if you have a larger RSB. All my modified cars are like that.

If you have shorter aftermarket shocks, it doesn't take much lifting from the front to raise the rear.

Lift front - place front jackstands

Lift rear - place rear jackstands.

I like this method in the absence of a low-pro, high-lift jack. It works just fine.

We have tried using a racing jack as well, but we couldn't get the rear up high enough to place the jack stands in.... The front was fine and dandy, but not the rear.. Time to buy a new jack.

It’s normal.

If you want to lift the front only then jack one side and place a jack stand, move the jack to the other side and start jacking. The opposite rear wheel will return safely to the ground. Install the second jack stand chock the rear wheels and have fun.
