Poll: '04 TSX and the problem with the center console lights going out.
I know! I was sweating it a little bit due to the fact that my warranty extension mailer said only 100k but i guess they added another 5k due to the odometer being slightly off.
For those who have had the replacement do they replace the whole radio insert or just the faulty light board?

My center console lights went out years ago at about 80k miles, but at the time it wasn't covered so i never got it fixed. Now my car has over 200k miles. So is there any possibility for acura to back date and honor this fix? Its probably doubtful. Is this an easy do it yourself fix? Anyone have any advice what i should do? I guess it can't hurt to call client services and ask. I know the dealership will not help me one bit because i didn't purchase my car from them.
all of my buttons light up except the right (passenger) map light and seat heater button.
So essentially I can see everything on my side, but on my passengers side you can accidentally turn on the seat warmer if you dont pay attention and if you had to read a map you would have to smash the sh** out of the map light a few times before it came on...
04 AT bought with 80,XXX miles in june 09

If your PCB was bad, the buttons surrounding your stereo and HVAC controls would be out or dim.

No i haven't tried yet but i will. At the time it was an expensive 1000 dollar replacement fix. But i read some people are replacing the PCB for much cheaper. Maybe i'll search and see what thats all about and worst case i can do it myself.
Joining the club...my went out today. All the radio/hvac button backlid lights went out, even with the headlights on. Both displays and function work properly (no-navi).
04 TSX with 145k km.
I noticed the TSB posted, but it is an American version...does anyone know if there is a Canadian equivalence? If so...what is the age/mileage restrictions?

Well acura client services is not willing to help me one bit. I explained that my lights went out aroun 87k miles and at that time there was no official service bulletin for this, so the dealer quoted me 1000dollars to replace the radio, which i declined. Now that i'm over 200k miles they say its too late, even though they admit its not related to mileage, and thats its just a defect recall issue.
They say my only possibility is if the dealer has a record of me taking the car in for the fix. Problem is this was just a verbal conversation with the service dept when i had the car in for other unrelated maintenance. So there probably is no record.
So how much is the replacement part if i were to do this myself? What other course of action can i take?

I think alot of you guys are fortunate to have good dealers... I called both Acura dealers in town, one of which is 5 minutes from my house. They both said I need to make an appointment for them to inspect the car and even ORDER the part. So I thought that was ridiculous and a complete waste of time but what can you do. The dealer closest to me, I took the car, he checked it out for 10 minutes, and came to the conclusion that they're ordering the part which is shipped from California. He called me into the service bay and was like so its the top cd player (I have an optional acura mp3 deck as well), I'm thinking yes did you read the TSB? When I first called, that dealer told me he had never heard of the problem, I'm thinking "seriously? its really common". The other dealer knew exactly what it was. It just annoys me that an older version of the TSB stated that if a customer calls in to order the part immediately so its there and you only have to make one appointment. Making both appointments is just a big PITA... so those of you that had dealers that stocked them are lucky - both dealers told me they must order the part based on my VIN.
I actually had to go in 3 times....once to verify the problem & order the part, once to get the new part in, which ended up also being defective, then a 3rd time to get another new part and that finally did the trick. I still consider my dealership to be really good.
I've noticed my HVAC/Radio lights going dim whenever I first start my car, then after about a minute they will light up. Is this what most people are experiencing before they go completely out?
I've got a late model 04 with 170,000km. Auto, no navi.

I've had an issue with all my lights going out (including radio and hvac displays), my electrician fixed it, it was some kind of condenser or so. But now I have another problem: not all the lights, but some on my hvac went out. The upper ones are lited (ac, mode) but the lowest are not (off, auto, defrosters) (((
Just checked on ISIS to make sure I was correct on the warranty extension, and it is indeed 7 year/105,000 miles.

I'm just furious that acura will not fix my console lights. Just because i have high mileage that has no bearing on this defect. Mileage has nothing to with this. And besides, my lights went out at 80k miles but at that time there was no warranty fix for it. So just because i drive more than average i should suffer? How much to fix this out of pocket?
center console lights went out along with my tail lights.
this was because i rewired my fogs to the corner lights and it blew the fuse. I solved my problem! =)

Thought the bulletin provided an extension for the repair. Perhaps try a different dealer.
