Odd sound (from wheels?) while driving

I have a 2005 TSX with 50k miles now. Been noticing an odd sound that seems to come from something around the wheels. It sounds like 'shhhht' 'shhhht' 'shhhht'. Like every full rotation of the tires, something is rubbing somewhere?

I have aftermarket rims and tires. Didnt have this problem until recently and have had the rims/tires for over a year now. I did recently rotate them, and had fixed one tire's flat with a plug.

Also, I had the front brakes done at the dealer under the white paper for warped rotors. The problem didnt go way.

What is going on here? could the plug in the tire do that? Should I have had it rebalanced? Could it be the rotation of the tires? Again a balancing issue?

I also have the vibrating/shaking steering wheel issue other reported, but that had been there from before this started.

I like the TSX and that it's a Honda, but I'm really turned off by these issues. Hesitant to upgrade to the new version.

When was your last alignment? Check to see if there's a rock or road debris stuck in the brake caliper. Also check that the rotor shield isn't rubbing on the disc. These are just some things off the top of my head to look at.

could be you need to have your tires balanced.

I had this on my old Prelude, and I have it on the 04 TSX as well. Most of the time its just residual rust somewhere in the brake assembly that likes to remind you its there by making a strange sound every rotation.

Most of the time it doesn't cause any noticable reduction in friction within the wheel assembly, so there really isn't any reason to worry about it.

Just my opinion.

Thanks for all the advice. I havent had the time to dig into this yet, but hope to this weekend.

The rear pads have not been changed. So that maybe something. Could be a rotor shield, I havent looked at it yet. Someone I know also said maybe an alienment or re-balancing.

I'll post what I find out.

Okay, I partailly rotated the tires last night. Put the fronts on the rear. The noise is lessened, but still there. Couldnt see anything obvious on the tires nor the brakes that might cause the noise.

Could a plugged hole in one tire cause the balancing to go off?
