Assuming you don't have any mods, it could be an exhaust leak on top of the pipe, so difficult to see. There is really only 2 major joints in the stock exhaust, one being in the rear.

So how would I fix that?..and the leak would be the cause of the loud noise?...and u right..mine is stock everything...but would that effect anything?..or would it go away by its self?

ah....

how would a hole just go away by itself?

it wouldn't.

it would be hard to see because it would be on the top of the pipe.
meaning you would have to drop the exhaust and inspect it to see it.

yes, exhaust leaks cause loud exhaust noises.

stock or not would effect nothing.
just where the noise would possibly coming from.

if it's really bothering you, have your exhaust fully inspected.
meaning all the way around all the pipes.

have it smoke tested.

Well, don't take my suggestions as the answer. I mean, I personally would think you would hear the noise all the time if it were a true leak, I'm just voicing ideas at the moment.

I gotta say hearing it constantly makes me think so. If you do a hard pull up to 55, do you hear it? My question centers around creating pressure in the exhaust system and you say it is coming from the rear. There isn't much back there to make noise. There is the fuel pump in the tank, 2 wheel bearings, shocks, brakes, and exhaust. So eliminate the obvious ones that wouldn't make that kind of noise.

Could possibly be a rear wheel bearing. Does the sound change with engine load or is purely speed dependent? Small exhaust holes are notorious for only making noise under specific conditions.

You can check online parts stores. There is probably a cross-use with the Accord too, so buying the exact same part from Honda is usually cheaper.

EDIT:

42200-SEA-951

It is a bearing unit and what looks to be a rubber o-ring. ~$140 through an online Honda parts store. This is a direct match to the Accord.

The old bearing will need pressed out and the new one pressed in too. Unless you have a large bearing press, you'll have to take the hub somewhere to have it done. It's enough of a hassle I'd just let a shop do it and I'm a very DIY person.

Bumping this thread.

I was at a Honda dealership today and they told me the 42200-SEA-951 is actually an Acura part number and they couldn't get it whereas 42200-SDA-A51 is for the 03-07 Accord. Anyone know if the latter will fit an 04-08 TSX also?

Thanks

I don't know if they are the same part number or not, but you can get the right one ordered from www.acuraoemparts.com.

I had to do this fix about 3 months ago. Only took about an hour.
