S0 I HAVE AN ACURA 2003 AND WHEN I SLOW DOWN THE 1ST GEAR KICKS BACK...HERE IS THE PROBLEM??? i HAVE REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION TWICE AND IT SEEMS TO BE A PATTERN OF 2YR LIFESPAN...SHOULD i GET A NEW TRANNY OR JUST USE TIP TRONIC ONLY... IM TAKING IT TO AMMCO FOR AN EXACT PROBLEM...OR SHOULD i JUST GET A EXTENDED WARRANTY??? iM LOST ALL OVER AGAIN.../??? PLS HELP W ANY FEEDBACK..NOTE: i WAS TOLD NUMEROUS TIMES THE 2002-04 HAS HAD SEVERAL TRANNY ISSUES TOO POWERFUL FOR THE CAR ITSELF...IS THIS A MYTH....

 

thats backwards--engine makes a lot of hp and torque
the trans has a weakness in the 2nd and 3rd gear clutches- yes auto trans have clutches!!

you replaced 2 trans how--acura warranty?
something may be wrong with your driving to get only 2 years-twice!
do a lot of downshifting with SS into 3rd and 2nd?

aamco is the LAST place I would go for an honest evaluation!!!!!!!!!
they have quotas to meet every day.. and every week
your trans will get a lowball estimate to get you in the door- then once its apart and they can inspect = big jack up of price (based on ziner info)

 

I would speak with the service manager about some help- since 2 years is far below what you should expect from the trans

describe this 1st gear prob please--you may have a simple shift selenoid issue!
how many miles on trans, color and smell of fluid? ever change the fluid?

 

I had to replace my trani (AND engine) due to a HUGE error from a simple oil change (not me). I replaced the trani direct from Acura factory and the engine...well, that was super easy and relatively inexpensive - the engine. Tranis never seem to be rebuilt quite the same and I believe although VERY expensive to replace the trani through Acura, I have a great warranty and it feels and drives like a new car....a year and a half later. 2000 TL
