could you take some pictures of the damage and upload them to a photo hosting website?

Drifting
Way more details/pics needed. Pls. try to avoid the run on sentences- it makes it harder to understand your problem. It obviously IS damaged or it would not be leaking & failing to pull itself.
You drove all the way over a median to the other side? Not into opposing traffic, I hope? At this pt. I would be more concerned w/ my driving abilities than the car anyhow.

Sorry to hear that my friend. It's obvious that the tranny took a good hit, so the both case halves and valve bodies might need to be replace. Who knows what else is also damaged from the accident. You drove it until it ran out of fluid, that could cause the transmission to overheat and could fried all the clutch packs. So you could bring it to a transmission shop, have them pull it out, tear it down and give you and estimate of how much for the the whole rebuilt, hopefully it's not "FUBAR" (F Up Beyond All Repair), or looking for a good used one with warranty which might be cheaper than rebuild because of the damaged "hard parts". Can also look up car-parts.com, craigslist or local junk yard. If you find a used one, try pulling the drain plug and look at it make sure it doesn't look like a porcupine, which means alot of metal stick to the magnet then the tranny may or will have some problem very soon. Type S uses the same transmission as regular TL, so don't be fool by some seller may tell you the Type S is so special so they can jack up the price on you. Look for the transmission tag for code like B7TA or BGFA something like that, if the code is the same then you're good to go. Good luck.

piggy is one of the resident trans gurus so I go by his say so on damage/repairs
I didnt see blue bolt heads--did anyone else see them? (old eyes-dont wear my bifocals at computor)
the clutches baked in the 200$ trans,,yes thats exactly what fails-
no, you wouldnt just drop in your clutches...
as if they still existed after fluid ran out and smoke emitted! your clutches are gone dude
but at this point, it might be a deal to get the case and hope it has less internal damage than yours so it can be rebuilt for cheap,,
doubtful- but I dont want to take away all your hope
Chances are it was driven till it stopped too~
ask junkyards/ auto dismantler and recycling for a recently crashed car
There are other options for trans from different acura models that seem to be better trans,,again we run into your current finacial limits
sorry to say- but you may be a very short term TL owner
the car itself- if in good condition- is sellable to someone wanting to do a 6 speed manual trans swap into a TL
Thats getting more popular as these trans fail outside warranty, and the repair cost versus car value gets closer every day
try listing it for sale on our member cars for sale and buy a honda for now

yeah sorry bout the delay,i decided the cheapiest way out was to buy a used tranny needing clutches off Craigslist.
my mechanic is charging 800 to transfer my trannys internals which luckily turnt out to be less than 6 months old into the tranny with bad clutches. that's for parts and labor minus the tranny(200) on Craigslist so it all came out to be 1000 which i had saved up to go on vacation to cape verde but maybe next year.but tomorrow hopefully i should be picking her up now im motivated, with your guys help i plan on making her super clean !!!! 3g wheels, 5k foggies,im/tb spacer, rear fog,mid-wing,etc ...

its probably a simple assembly error-(fingers crossed)-
we may have warned you/others about techs without extensive experience and TL trans, needing 3-5 times to get it put together right~ they put it in - it dies they take it out and apart...try again
hopefully- you go in with a positive attitude- explain how happy you were you went on acurazine and started passing out this guys number!!
Sadly, something....maybe just a wire or external selenoid has failed,,these things happen
or if internal assembly prob- he will take care of it no problem, in order to preserve his good reputation
reminder- in the old days before the internet, a Happy customer told 2 friends--example you saw a movie you liked or went to a good restaurant--you would tell 2 good friends to go enjoy those right?'
and if you had a bad experience,,you would tell 11 people,,total strangers in grocery line would get your opinion,,oh that places suckssssss!!!! dont go there!!!!
Now,,, a happy customer goes online and tells 200 hundred in some web group
and the UNHAPPY customer goes online= in every forum they can find,
and tells 11 MILLION people about their bad experience
the customer isnt always right- but getting the car back working for more than a week- customer has every right to expect years of trouble free service--this trans was apart- should have got anything it needed- if the tech knew what they were doing
and no you didnt hurt it~
putting positive `love vibe` in the car is perfectly acceptable to it
as long as you use a towel

Hopefully something simple to fix and they won't charge you anything extra. They will have to scan it for code, it would be something in the transmission side. Keep us update of your problem.

I just read the first post on this again,, was going 60 mph!! when hit a medien.....
that may have put the hurt on internal trans parts- from the shock to the axles
bent something they wouldnt think to inspect?

is there preload adjustments that could make a noise if not correct?
example, Im thinking rear drive car differential noises,,or crankshaft freeplay/preload
I have no knowledge of the actual internals of the TL trans

Unbelievable...I read this whole thread and I am cracking up. Same thing happened to me (not my TL-Phew) but I was driving on the freeway and a guy in a truck lost his ladder....I had nowhere to go. Ladder went under the car and destroyed the trani, and among other things bent the frame in 3 places. Dude. I hit a ladder. You went over a median. Why don't you get your car checked out at a body shop for frame damage...amongst other things.
