New car with a couple for Problems

I just bought a 05 tsx with 122,000 miles. Its got a couple of things wrong and wanted to get some advice/opinions on the matter. First of all i have done the plugs, Injector cleaning, TB cleaning, Air filter and checked the motor mounts for leaks. Now the problems It seems to have a rough idle and the rpms sometimes jump around. The second is the tranny seems to take a while to drop back into 1st after stopping, or if i slow down like im going to stop but then go agian it does down shift to first.

Any advise is good adivse

Thanks
Joe

I would do a drain and fill on the tranny if that hasn't been done yet. Also, a bad PCV valve can cause poor idle.

Fuel filter? (That did the trick on my last car with a rough idle -- after I had tried everything else.)

No idea on the transmission. (I have a 6MT...and have never had an automatic.)

I have an 05 with 150K miles on it, so I feel I can speak from experience. That said, I'm a little confused about the injector cleaning (what is it and how do you do it) and the same thing with the throttle body cleaning. Neither of these things are manufacturer recommended service items, so I'm curious how and why I guess. It also makes me wonder if you might have done something in the "cleaning" process that effected the idle quality.

The transmission shifting methodology is not like many AT's, and if you're not familiar with it's shifting characteristics (especially downshifting), it may actually be working just fine, it's just that you don't know it. For those of us that are very familiar with it, it's tough to say judging by your description (for me anyway).

Just to clear things up for most of us, were these problems occuring prior to those maintainance processes? Like Boulder TSX mentioned, fuel filter may be the problem. Also, check vacuum hoses and intake hose for leaks/cracks.

As for the transmission, Simba91102 may be right about you not used to how these transmissions behave. I've noticed on mines that when in sport shift mode and slowing to a stop, the transmission don't shift to 1 until the car has almost stop moving. So did you fill the tranny with Honda fluid?

Throttle body and intake/injector cleaning is something that lots of people do. You should pull your intake tube off and look at the TB its dirty... No where in your owners manuel does it tell you to wash your car but im sure you do that. And i have owned about 15 differnet cars and have driven over 100 different ones too (used to work at a dealership) and i can tell you the shifting habits of this car is not normal. the fluid i used was bought from the acura dealership and i think it was the zr-1 stuff.

OK, thanks for the cleaning advice on the fuel system. I have had the tube off a few times when I remove the short ram intake for the state inspection. It looks clean enough to me, and I tend to practice the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" philosophy. So....... I guess I'd be inclined to leave well enough alone since the car still runs like new.

As far as the transmission is concerned, I guess you more or less answered your own question. If you're convinced there's something wrong, it's unlikely you'll discover what that is here. I's say a trip to an Acua dealer is your best bet.

^ Or you could take it to a reputable transmission shop like AAMCO that will check it out for you free of charge. Sorry about your misfortune!
