My first TSX problem

I was driving yesterday in my TSX. I turned down the radio to have a conversation with my passenger. While we were talking, I started to hear a humming noise. I brought it up and my passenger thought I may have caught something on my tires.

We pull over and do a spot inspection on my tires. Neither one of us could find anything. I got back into my car and drove off. The humming continued. I called my dealer and made an appointment for this morning.

Drove to the dealer. Told them what happened and also had them change the oil. I am at 12,300 miles. So, it really freaked me out that I may have something wrong with my car.

Three hours later (Yes I waited), I ask the service guy for a progress report. He told me that the mechanic felt a slight shimmy while braking and skimmed my rotors and replace my brake pads. He also said that the Mechanic wanted to rule the tire and rim (even though they looked fine) out. So the mechanic rotates the tires and test drives again to see if the humming moves from the rear to the front of the car (from my understanding a tire defect is not covered under factory warranty). It turns out the humming is still in the back. They think that a bearing might be going out.

The service guy is shipping the part priority and says it will be there tomorrow. So I have to drive back to the dealer (1 hour drive away). They say that the service will take about 4 hours. So I will go tomorrow and watch a couple movies on my portable DVD payer while I wait for my car.

Hopefully it will be the end of this issue. I will give you guys an update tomorrow.

It sounds like a wheel bearing to me. It shouldn't take 4 hours to fix, maybe an hour or two tops.

problem is... the techs never listen to anybody.

I'm going to take my car in today... and I'm going to have to draw them a fricken schematic to show them where the rattle is.

I went today to the dealer. Believe it or not they ordered the wrong part. The service manager apologized and will have the correct part tomorrow.

They gave me an option, since I have to wait for my car when I bring it in (I live over an hour away).

Option 1) Drive my car home and bring it back tomorrow. Then wait for the repair to take place.

Option 2) Take one of their loaners and just bring it back at my convenience and swap theirs for mine (after the repair is done).

I decided for option 2. He said he would have to call enterprise (they were out of loaners) to come pick me up. I told him no way. I hate enterprise. Coincidentally one of their loaner came back right at that moment, White TSX non-navi with chrome rims and a DVD player.

I figured I put the TSX through a real drive test. Took it out on an open country road, had my brother drive 5 miles away (to let me know about on coming traffic and no there are no crossroads). I took it to about 145mph. It got up there pretty quick. But I had to slow down due to a sheriff turning down the road I was on. I think the TSX could have gone a little faster. I don’t know if there is a governor on it but I know it will go at least 145.

BTW, I don’t like the OEM DVD player. It is FM modulated and no real controls. It probably has a remote but I couldn’t find it.

Was the country road that you were on flat or did it have a subtle slope? The reason I ask is because I read on one of the threads that there is a speed governor at 135 MPH...I could be wrong though
Was the loaner car a 5AT or 6MT?

Speedo's are almost always off, and its even more exaggerated at high speeds. A speedo can read much over the governor

classic trick to make you think that the car is a lot faster than it really is.

My cousin is comming down tomorrow. He's a High Patrol Officer. Were are going to try to clock the car with his radar detector.

BTW, I don't know if it is the chrome rims on the car or that everyone beats the crap out of it, but my loaner TSX can't take corners like mine does.
