my car got hit at lunch.

i was backin up at lunch today.

and apparently so was this lady in an oldsmobile alero. (a black one)

so my back bumper and rear lip is scratched. her mirror scratched my rear corner panel, and my taillight is scrathed - some of it came off.

she must have backed up fast - my foot was still on my clutch, my paint is all over her car - her isn't on mine.

we were both backin out in the same direction - it's hard to describe - i had to revserse straight out and she had to back up diagonally.

so it's no one's fault.

we exchanged info - but i doubt i'll claim it against my insurance b/c i dont want my premium to go up, plus my deductable is 500USD.

so what should i do?

should i fix it? it's pretty scratched up but this def interferes with my savings plan towards my house.

serious input only.

no wise cracks in this thread please.

Pics?

Get an estimate on repairs first and then decide if you'll pay out of pocket.

And dzuy, should someone who's saving for a house be modding their car so heaviliy?

Oh snap man. Im hella sorry to hear this. You have one of the nicest TSX's around. I would get an estimate and also see what parts you can get from a junk yard...Tryin finding out if you can get the tail lights and what not from there also the rear bumper and lip kit. there has to be a PWP TSX with front damage in a wrecking yard somewhere. There are a few places that link with alot of junk yards online and then all of them that have what you want will email you and tell you a price. Its up to you but it might save you some cash.

Damn, that sucks. Sorry to hear that. If their just scratches and no dents, you should be able to find a body shop that will take care of it for a decent price. As long as they dont have to hammer out dents, shouldnt be too expensive.

dzuy, I'm confused. You'll spend money on all the mods below but you won't spend money to fix any scratches? This is the most insane thing I've ever heard.

mods:
19 x 8 volk racing te37 wheel (custom order gold from rays engineering, japan)
235/35 - 19 Toyo Proxes4 tires
volk racing LE center caps
rays engineering black anodized lug nuts
tein flex coilovers
tein edfc
oem / modulo front lip, side skirts and rear lip
jdm euro r valve cover
jdm euro r spark plug cover
mugen type ii oil cap
mugen radiator cap
mugen resovoir socks
jdm euro r grill
jdm euro r front and rear emblem
jdm euro r front "h" badge
jdm dc5r red "h" emblem
comptech titanium strut bar
comptech stainless steel header
comptech ice box
comptech stainless steel cat back exhuast
piaa plasma super white reverse bulbs

Since there's no dents, shouldn't be too expensive to fix...

With your extended list of cool mods, definitely fix it. That's the only right thing to do...

Dang DeeZee...that sucks....

I always kind of cringe when I have to click on a link that says: accident, or I got hit

It sucks evenmore to open the link and see a regular from the forum have that happen.

I'm sure you're going to fix it, and I think you should as well.

I think you are just in the intial shock phase, where, it just happenned, and your pissed because your gonna have to get it fixed and you feel like you're just wasting your money on something you didn't plan on.

Anyway man, just chill out. Try not to think about it and go have a beer or two.

Like Wsklar says, is there a mod you can do to someone cover up the damage?

here are some pics. the quality is bad b/c it's night time over here and i just have a regular point and shoot pentax.

if you look at the last pic, you can see where she nicked some of my taillight off.

no troutslap here.

Oh, thats not so bad. Seriously, get a quote, it shouldnt be too much...

Edit: Maybe a good thing for once that the bumpers are plastic. Im sure its more to fix dented metal then scratched plastic.

no.

im self estimating the damage to be ~500 USD since they have to respray the whole bumper.

my deductible is 500, so unless it's way more than that - it's out of pocket for me.

Absolutely do not make a claim unless you prefer to get bent over.

If you are an absolute perfectionist - spend the dough for a new bumper cover, otherwise - some touch-up paint should work okay.

just get it repainted. a new bumper cover will be a pain in the butt, plus you need the body kit repainted anyways. definately don't leave it scratched up though, that would be a slap in the face to the all the great mods you've done.

Damn, thatz shitty man. The scratch on the tail light isn't even noticeable. I wouldn't even try to get that fixed. I doubt I would have noticed it in the pic if you didn't mention it.

Good luck with the fix dzuy.

I had a key scratch on my old RSX, along driver door all the way to front corner panel. Insurance estimate was like $700 CAD for the repair, I am sure it didn't cost the shop all of that quote. So to fix your bumper shouldn't be too costly.

Yeah, the marks on your tail light are barely noticible... you may not need to do anything about them.

Since when did they make a rear bumper? AFAIK its only a lip. If they have a complete bumper replacement I want to see pix. I will get a mugen rear if they have one.

So dzuy, I gather your car is in the shop for the scratches repairs... pretty good timing to be getting the reflash in the meantime!!

Just curious how much did the repair turn out to cost??
