Louder noise from engine after adding oil
Louder noise from engine after adding oil
I have an 07 NBP with just over 3000k miles on it. Recently I checked my engine oil level and found out that it was just below the "low" mark. Because I am planning to use synthetic oil on my car, I added some Mobil 1 and the oil level ended up exactly at the "high" mark. However after doing so I noticed a slightly more noise coming from the engine. It's not a different noise, it's just louder than what it used to be.
I don't know if this has something to do with the synthetic mixing with the original oil that the car came with (I haven't done any oil changes yet) or maybe I filled the engine up with too much oil. Do I need to have my oil changed as soon as possible or drain some oil out to try to correct this problem? Or am I just worrying too much? Thanks for the help.

Thanks. That's what I've been thinking. But at the same time, I don't want to change the break-in oil until at least 5k. I've been searching on the internet and I found this on the Mobil website:
Is it okay to mix conventional oil with Mobil 1?
Mobil 1 is fully compatible with conventional motor oils, semi-synthetic motor oils and other synthetic motor oils, should it be necessary to mix them. But the superior performance of Mobil 1 will be reduced by diluting it.
Can I mix one litre of Mobil 1 with three or four litres of conventional oil to enhance the performance of the conventional oil?
You can, but Imperial Oil does not recommend this practice. You give up much of the superior-performance characteristics of Mobil 1. The conventional oil in the mix will adversely affect the low-temperature flowability and high-temperature oxidation stability of Mobil 1. And while Mobil 1 is compatible with conventional motor oils, it has an additive package that has been specifically developed to work with its own high-performance components.
Any other input from you guys?

And if the noise increase is only very slight, it's not unusual. Mobil1 tends to run a bit louder.

Those of us with an 07 TSX can check tire pressure in, oh, about 6 seconds.
