how do you stop the rear license plate from rattling every time you close the trunk? Why didn't acura make another two holes at the bottom of the plate?

Sponge tape, like they use for camper shells. Home Depot carries it!

Wow...I don't think I remember seeing anyone here having that problem. But like G36 said, just stick a tape under it and you'll be fine.

Some people complain about the weirdest shit.

Don't close the trunk so hard and it won't rattle.

2 bottom screws on the bottom of the plate would not have killed Acura to do.

Yeah, it probably wouldn't have killed them, but when you are closing your trunk, and WALKING AWAY, does that rattle really bother you?
I can somewhat understand the interior rattles namely cause you are driving in the car and can hear it constantly, but the trunk??????? Give me a break

You're right, that would've fixed it. I ran a couple of zip ties throught the bottom two holes, then snugged them up real tight. That keeps the plate from rattling against the license plate frame (if you have one) when you close the trunk.

It did the trick.

one person's weird is another person's annoying...especially since it also does it when you *open* the trunk (with the fob). not that anyone here cares, but i'm going to home depot.

i understand how some things bother some people as they dont bother another, but come ON. isnt something like this just a matter of finding something soft to keep it from rattling.

And it does scratch the paint. My plate frame left two nasty little marks on trunk underneath the plate before I put the foam in.

doesnt the plate come with two thick foam pads installed behind it? when i went to pick mine up i did comment on how the plate is touching the bare paint and the dealer said im thinking too far ahead bc he was just about to screw on the new licence plate holder; which has a thick foam backing on it.

Varies from dealer to dealer. I know many people didn't have the foam while just as many did. I didn't so I spent $3 and bought a roll of the foam tape and attached a couple of pieces in strategic locations and the problem is now solved.

If you go to your dealer just ask them to put these square sponge pads onthe bottom behind the license plate. They just stick on. They are supposed to put them on before you buy it.

With just the plate in place, grab the bottom and bend the plate slightly outward. No more rattle.

Do you slam your trunk closed?

What about states (like CA) where you don't get your plates with your car, they are sent from the DMV and you install them yourself?

Me, I just put some little rubber "bumper pads" at the corners of the plate, but there are no instructions from Acura on the matter.

With your setup, you probably couldn't even hear a .38 pistol go off.

I've missed a couple emergency vehicles on occasion (didn't hear them), but I was fortunate not to get in their way.

I've actually walked around the car with the sound up to 30, and while I saw the license move a bit, it didn't make any noise. I have an aluminum license plate protector thingy from my school... maybe the extra weight keeps it in check?!

Never. I'm always nice with my car -- and blast anyone that slams the door.
