Question How to remove the plastic covering the gauges?

a strange rattle has developed and I have nailed it down to the plastic covering the gauges. When I press on the plastic, the noise is gone... so now the ques is how can I remove this plastic so I can put some insulation tapes around it?

thanks in advance!

I took a quick look at my TSX service manual; there's no mention of removing the plastic covering alone, but there are instructions for removing the Gauge Control Module as a unit.

It doesn't look too difficult ... from the book. The steps are:

Remove the driver's dashboard lower cover (1 screw, 3 clips)
Remove the upper [steering] column cover. [Looks like three screws holding the plastic upper and lower column covers together, surrounding all the turn signal switches.]
Place a clean shop towel under the gauge control module to prevent scratching the steering column or dash panel.
Remove the screws from the gauge control module. [There are two shown in the picture, which appear to be on the bottom and accessed from inside the dash and below.]
Disconnect the 22P and 18P connectors, then remove the gauge control module.
Install the gauge control module in the reverse order of removal.
If it's as repeatable as you indicate, it might be quick for the dealer to fix it and own any responsibility for scratches, etc. But I also understand the desire to fix it yourself.

I completely agree with you. I was just hoping there would be a 'super' easy way to remove the plastic... now, I am not going to risk anything and will let the dealer take care of it during the next oil change but hey, at least the problem/fix is repeatable, always have to look at the bright side :P

Anybody ever have remove the gauge unit or clear lens themselves or by dealer?

The reason I am asking is that the used TSX I'm looking at buying has a weird smear/smudge on the inside of the clear plastic lens in front of the center gauge unit. Other than that, the car is perfect. Little things like that bug me and I'd want it fixed. Of course I'm gonna request that the dealer fix this before I buy it but I'd like to know how difficult it is......

BTW - anybody with a shop manual know if the lens is part of the gauge unit or a seperate part that seperates from the gauge unit?

Any info would be help guys.

Riley

p.s. first time poster.... good site and looking forward to the tsx teamwork.
