Exclamation Help with S/C installation

Hey guys.. i'm going nuts over here. I had the s/c installed on my car.. ecu and acm plugged in.. All that was left was to start the car... car started and idled smoothly.

Then within a minute the power steering fluid starting gushing/foaming out of the reservoir. We turned off the car... cleaned the fluid.. repeated.. It still kept foaming out within 20 seconds or so. The installer figured it was an air bubble in the power steering so it is going to keep doing that until the air bubble is gone. I drove home about 70 miiles and, I noticed that the power steering is really bad.. It comes in and out and the car feels like it has no power steering at all when at idle or very low rpms. I have to muscle the steering wheel when parking.

Anyone know what it could be? Everything seems to have been installed perfectly. The power steering reservoir is at the upper level right now, but it feels like there is no power steering. Thanks.

The install procedure doesn't require the removal of the P.S lines. Did the installer remove the lines? It sounds like the fluid is not getting to the steering rack.

The only thing he did that pertains to the power steering reservoir was change the hose to the new p/s hose supplied by comptech. It is on step #21 of the intructions. It says "install the new longer 5/8" x 16" p/s hose reusing the original clamps.

I guess i have to wait to contact Comptech tomorrow. The power steering is almost nothing when i'm at a standstill. It is extremely difficult to turn the wheel and it also makes a loud noise..However, if i accelerate, the steering feel is almost normal and much easier to turn. I confirmed that there is no clog on the hose that goes the p/s reservior to the pump. =(

An air leak on the suction side of the P/S pump (between the resevoir and the pump) will cause the fluid to foam. When the fluid foams the P/S assist will be inconsistant and the pump will often howl. I'd double check to make sure the spring clamps on the suction hose are clamping tight enough and make sure the aftermarket hose doesn't have a split or pinhole. If the O.D. of the aftermarket hose is smaller than the OEM, than likely the stock clamps will not make a tight seal.

Another thing to possibly check would be to make sure the installer used the two new o-rings when installing the power steering hose spacer. Maybe one of those is making a bad seal and causing air to get into the lline?

It is finally fixed. It was the o-rings! The installer ordered the rings and installed them. The power steering is back to normal again. I am so happy now.

I just wanted to say that for those in the NJ/NY/PA area that were relunctant to get the TSX S/C due to the high labor rates, should go ahead and get it now. The person who installed the S/C for me charged me an ULTRA HIGHLY competitive price, and he did a great job putting it together.

He is a member of the acurazine tl boards "Ryan97812" and is a certified mechanic. He has done a bunch of TL s/c installation amongst other engine mods, and I was his first TSX S/C install. The whole installation process was clean and he can do the install in 4 to 5 hours. The only hiccup we had was the stupid p/s fluid foaming up, but he immediately figured that it was due to an air leak. I think the kit only had one o-ring and it slipped off or something, so he had ordered two new ones for me at no charge. He was virtually 100% sure it was the o-rings, but me being paranoid, i was thinking the worse. lol. Anyway, after he installed the o-rings, he took the car on a test drive.. he cleaned up the engine bay and underside of the car too. He is even going to waive the labor fee if I ever decide to install an exhaust on my car.

The guy is truly a nice guy and extremely knowledgable...he really knows his stuff.
So for anyone that wants their S/C installed or any other mods, send him a PM @ Ryan97812

P.S. I am very happy with my supercharger!

First impressions

The word that comes to mind is beast.. My car feels like a beast on the road now. I love the new power, and the car feels like a high powered v6 now. The s/c whine is addicting, and you can definitely feel VTEC crossover. When I hit 3k rpms, the car propels forward like if I turned on rocket boosters. It is a fun feeling. I'm really enjoying it.

I am hoping to dyno my car soon at the same spot I went to last time. Therefore, I would be able to compare my s/c dyno runs against my na dyno runs. I also want to get me an exhaust to complete my setup. However, i'm fearful of the loud exhaust noise. All I can hear now is the s/c whine; which i enjoy. My s/c installer has an 04 supercharged TL with the comptech exhaust. His car is an absolute monster on the road. He let me drive in it, and I almost got whiplash when he hit boost. The weird thing is that his comptech exhaust is dead quiet. I don't think he has the quiet tips either.

Anyway, thumbs up to the supercharger
I guess i must be the first 05 model year supercharged TSX.

well just finished my supercharger install and have the exact same problem my one o-ring separated into two separate pieces. unfortunately thought I just needed to bleed the power steering lines and kept doing it and it kept foaming out to the point I am now super low on power steering fluid like only a half inch in the bottom. I tried using a literally almost identical size o-ring from a paintball gun and got rid of the leak to an extent but I think it might be a little to thing and I am to low on power steering fluid to check it out now so unless I can find honda power steering fluid and a exact same size o-ring somewhere on a sunday then I will have to wait till monday to test it out again which really sucks.
