Fixing Plastic Molding Inside
Fixing Plastic Molding Inside
Hi All,
I have a question for somebody familiar with fixing scratches/cuts in the pastic inside the car. I've included pictures of my TSX with a pretty deep cut and 2 faint scratches. Does anyone have an idea of how to fix things like that? I'm guessing for deep cuts, you would need a filler of some kind and then a polish of some kind to make it blend in. If anyone has any specifics on this, that would be great. Thanks.

well, the problem is that my dealership is 2 1/2 hours away. I have one nearby, but thats not where I bought the car. Its a long story, but I don't feel like driving 5 hours to get it replaced. Is there a way to fix this?
Try taking a damp cloth and wiping it down first to get some of that residue/surface stuff off of there. Then take a "conditioner" and condition the vinyl. It should look much less noticeable if not almost invisible. If the dealer is the one that did this... if that doesn't work... i'd try to have them replace it then.
You may also want to post this question in our Wash & Wax section. That gets viewed by car care enthusiasts that own other Acura models besides the TSX.

You can easily cause that kind of scratch with your pinky finger nails.
TSX interior plastic is CRAP. Like it's recycled from milk jugs or something.
You'll definitely get what I mean when you pull some trims off.
Fact of the matter is TSX has nice and very pretty packaging - typical of Japanese style - "It looks like a jewel" as someone said - true but when it's new because that is not likely to last.
TSX is a great bang-for-the-buck but you get what you pay for. Honda seems to go cheap on non-mechanical material and on paint.

Actually... at least out plastic looks like nice plastic. Sort of textured to look like leather or something. Have you seen the recent products of some other brands? As quoted from a car article "cons- enough interior plastic to fill a toy store" this was on a $50k car too.

agree, that's exactly my point - looks nice, maybe even feels nice but that's it - run your nails over it and reality sets in.
