Cleaning Tinted Windows

Hey all,

I've searched the forums for awhile and didn't find anything I was looking for. I just wanted to know when is it safe to clean the inside windows, I just got my windows tinted on this past Tuesday...was planning to clean it tomorrow, but wanted if that's too soon to do. Thanks.

P.S.
b/c it's all dirty and streaky

I was told to not roll the windows down for 3 days, I could then remove the the little 3M logos all over the tint with an alcohol wipe provided after 7 days. Then I could clean the inside of the windows after 30 days. Seemed like a long time to wait, but I had no need to do it before then and only just cleaned them last weekend after almost 2 months.

Call the tint shop and ask them what they recommend.

I've always used Stoners. It's always worked fine, but not sure if it's recommend or not.

You should be fine after a few days. The biggest thing I've read about cleaning tint is to avoid using cleaners that contain ammonia. I think most cleaners today don't have it anyway, but just check first.

Stoners is great and it's fine for using on tinted windows. Works best if you use a micro fiber cloth, as opposed to paper towels. Less likeliehood of scratching the tint.

Thanks for the input guys

I've ammonia-free Armor-All for awhile to clean my windows so I'll use that, one other thing though, TSX.Fury & others recommend this place I did it at in my area, it's been a couple of days and seems to have some bubbles in the rear window and at the top edge of the rear passenger side window, any of you guys experience that in the drying process?? The guy did a really good job doing the tint, I was planning to just take care of it myself after it dries out. Just being kinda anal about it, that's all.

yea, i'd wait the recommended 30 days before trying to clean the windows. The moisture under the tint hasnt' evaporated yet so if you try to clean it the tint could be moved and get all out of shape.

Best to be patient. When you do clean it, use Stoners Invisible Glass. This stuff is awesome. Use one MF to apply and another one to wipe clean.

The bubbling is normal. Once the tint sets up, it should go away. If you do have problems, take it back to the installer and have him fix it.
