Engine code P0957

So, I drive an 05 auto TSX and it threw up an engine code P0957 "Auto shift manual circuit low".

It's in stored and not pending. should I be worried? or should I just delete it?

This is the first strange code that I've ever gotten. I don't count the one I get when its super cold because of my RT cat.

Thanks!

off topic question: any issues with RT cat in our communist-emission state?

superb0o: How do you know the engine is throwing a code? Did a light light up in the instrument panel? If so, which one?

Well, I haven't had to smog the car, but I do have a virtual emissions checker using pcmscan for my computer. Long story short, I fail but I have my stock cat still so if I need to, I'll just switch it out.

I know my engine is throwing a code because the light came on and I checked it using an OBDII software that I usually use. It's the check engine light that came on, the pipe looking thing. But I read all of the codes, and the code read what I previously said.

I think I'm going to just take it to the dealer tomorrow like the manual says.

I did some hunting around and I think this is some kind of electrical fault in the transmission or it's control circuitry. Definitely dealer territory.

P0957 indicates a fault in the "Sportshift" selection switch, or it's circuit to the PCM. The switch is mounted to the shifter assembly on the left side under the console. Most likely cause I've seen for codes like this is something getting spilled (coffee/soda etc) into the shifter and leaking into the switch. It's a fairly simple switch (actually two in one assembly), an on/off switch activated when the shift lever is moved in/out of "Sportshift" mode, and a 3 position momentary switch for up/downshift commands from the shift lever. Easy to test with an ETM.
