here is my idea, I will slap on the blue tinted headlight protection film i bought that i never got around to installing. Maybe with that installed they wont notice that the headlights are JDM?

got my letter yesterday and i will be taking my car into the dealer today. thank goodness i hated the look of my car with both the headlights all fogged up

You want them to replace the JDM with USDM? Why not offer to buy some of those clips for the TSB repair and take care of it yourself?

^^ The service bulletin shows the technician how to wipe the condensation from the inside of the lamp and then where to install the clips. If they say they won't do it then you might be able to obtain the clips from your service department and try to do it yourself following the TSB instructions.

the condensation goes away and does not leave any water marks, all i need is clips that will prevent leakage.

is that what the clips are for?

I just got the recall notice from Acura in the mail today about the condensation of the headlights. Well, got to call to get an appointment.

I just re-read the TSB . It seems the paper towel is only to test and see if there is moisture in the headlight. If there is then they replace the headlight, and if there isn't then they add the clips which are supposed to keep the headlight seam from separating and allowing moisture in.

I think I will thoroughly wash my car immediately before I take it in for this service to give moisture its best chance to enter the headlight assembly.

well i got my headlights replaced yesterday but they only used clips on the passenger side. i wonder why they didn't on the driver's

No it does not state it anywhere if there is a problem it just tells you to bring in your car to the dealer , mine doesn't realy have a problem but to be honest with you I wouldnt mind getting some new headlights for free nice and shiny again!

I also have condensation in my driver's side headlight. Maybe you can give me the letter so I can get mine replace. My warrenty has ran out. I think I am gonna order the JDM headlights.

If you take it to the dealer without the letter, they should be able to see in the computer if your car is eligible. That's what I plan on doing if I don't get the letter by the time I go in for my next service. Just call and ask them. Buying new headlights - OEM or JDM - will not help you if you don't get the clips installed to keep the hood from rubbing and causing the moisture to get in. Go straight to the source and get the problem fixed. And they'll probably give you new headlights since yours are already fogged up.

i got the letter too. I took my car in yesterday and got a rental... a malibu, but in any case, it was pretty quick and they just added clips to both my lights.

Had some service done on friday so it was a good time to kill 3 birds with 1 stone. Had them do the headlight and fuel pump relay recall. They adjusted the hood and added the clips since I dont have any condensation. I was also lucky enough that even though my vin was in the range for the faulty relays my car had the right brand so that ended up just being a check.

I just received a product update notification from Acura for my 04 TSX. Acura wants to take a look for potential condensation problems. I will be taking my car in for a quick inspection and modifications to the headlight covers. Service advisor said something about adding two clips to the headlight assembly. It should take about 30 minutes.

Anybody wanna post a pic of the clips they install? Im taking my car in on Friday, and I mentioned that they do haze up sometimes. I was hoping that they would have the parts in if they need to replace the headlight. I called today to confirm they would have the parts and they said that they will have to see the car first. Anyway, I was just trying to avoid a 1.5 hr one way drive to dealership, if they have to replace.

I blew out the low beam on one side from the condensation and was told it was $1500.00 to replace the light.

The car was well out of warranty (93,000) but the dealership replaced the light free of charge anyway. ... they must have known this problem keeps cropping up.

My next car will have halogen headlamps.... who needs a $1500.00 headlight?

well i got lucky and was able to take advantage of the recall even though I have JDM headlights...should be interesting to see if that gets rid of the fogging i get sometimes.

West Side Acura replaced the housing but did NOT replace the headlight, so it still doesn't work. Only hours after bringing it home, the headlight unit started to fog up AGAIN. I called and left a message re: the headlight still being out, awaiting for them to call back. They also put a single metal chrome looking clip, about 2cm in width along the original headlight and the new one they replaced. On the work order, they called it a "Good Will" service? If they don't replace the headlight (or even the ballast if the moisture problem has gone that far), then I will pursue this further. Do you think Acura will reimburse me for the TWO HID headlight I had previously paid for due to this faulty Acura part? (doubtful)

Yes, they put some clips in headlight the TSX today and had an RDX as a loaner. How many recalls has the TSX had? First it was the harness wiring taillights and now this headlight one.

The RDX is an alright SUV, but I'm waiting to see how the EX35 is because I think that's a better one.

i love the looks of the RDX, never drove one. i am still skeptical that these clips will fix the fogging issue with my headlights.

That's pretty stupid. Your headlight is already messed up.

The way I took it, and maybe I'm wrong, but I thought that if your headlight already had condensation in it, they would replace it and apply the clips to the new headlight. If it didn't have condensation in it, they would just apply the clips.

Followed up with the service dept today and they said that they forgot to inform me that they DID replace the headlight bulb, but it BLEW right away and that there must be something wrong with the ignitor or the ballast and that *I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR ANY ADDITIONAL REPAIRS* and that we could book you in next Monday. So before I flew off the handle, I took the Monday morning appointment and quickly called Acura Client Services () and then called the Service Manager Head Shot Dude and explained the situation. My simple toned questions to him were:
1) How could the service department, in good business conscience, allow my car to roll out the bay doors & call me to say, "It's Good to Go / Ready for Pick Up" when it wasn't and let me assume that I had headlights to drive home with and;
2) If moisture caused problems to the headlight electrical system, due to a faulty Acura part--why doesn't this "Recall" cover the costs of ALL affected parts as indicated?

He quickly jumped to say he "wish he was notified of this situation sooner" and "I will look after this personally" -- when I questioned him (for my own reassurance) if I will be indeed be on the hook for these recall repairs, he said "no, let me look after this for you Mr. so & so".

So boys & girls, this my little tail that has turned me in to an Acura-Loving-Consumer-for-Life to a "neh, what else is out there" kind of customer. Too harsh? Maybe...

Well that's a relief, eh? It's pretty messed up that they said your car is ready and let you leave without the headlight fully repaired. I hope head hot shot dude does what he says! I still have not received my letter regarding the headlights. Wondering where it is....
