Check ABS and VSA lights are on

Yesterday my check ABS and VSA lights came on and have not gone off after restarting the car. Has anyone had this problem???? I have an 06 with 14k miles on it. They gave me a disgustingly dirty TSX loaner car with less then a quarter tank of gas, plus they charged me $15. This is my first time getting a loaner. Is this standard to get so little gas?

Gas is at whatever the previous person left. I got a loaner that was on E once. Doesn't really matter usually you just return it with the same amount you received.

I never was charged for a loaner

ABS and VSA light trun off trick

I had the VSA and ABS lights come on a couple of times after roll-starting my MT TSX. The dealer can reset them (and charge you $).
Maybe maybe after a while they reset on their own, but I am not sure.

But I have a trick that I used to turn them off on a MT TSX: while driving the car (at least 20 MPH) without pressing the clutch and while leaving it rolling in gear turn off the ignition and after 2 seconds turn it back on. The instrument panel would light back up; the engine would turn back on, the ABS & VSA lights will come off.

Worked twice for me already!

But don't press the clutch or put it into neutral while doing it, or the car will not start back up and you will loose power steering and power brakes until the engine is started again.

The dealer said that its something called a speed sensor and that they have to order the part. They are going to have my car for another two days. Does anyone know what the speed sensor does?

I'm guessing it senses speed or something.

As long as nothing breaks post-warranty, be glad. I think the Yaw Sensor is a part that costs over $1000 + labour to replace.

As for the speed sensor, there are numerous ones if I recall correctly. The one that the speedo uses, and possibly one for each wheel to determine which wheels are slipping, (triggering VSA/traction control to intervene)

Yes you are right about things breaking under the warranty. They found something else wrong and have ordered another part - a VSA module. By the time they get it all fixed they will have had my car almost a week.

Usually when they find something else wrong, they do not know what the problem is,and are just replacing parts. I find this happens quite often at dealers now. Dealers don't seem to want to troubleshoot anymore, they just replace parts until they find the problem.
