Uh oh.. my first check engine light since having the supercharger and random cat. I'm a little worried. I went to get gas tonight. I put it premium like I always do and made sure the gas attendant tightened the gas cap. Then after driving about 30 minutes or so, the CEL came on. The car still seems to drive fine though. I got out and retightened the gas cap just in case.

I got paranoid and checked the oil and other stuff. My coolant (reserve tank) is a little low due to a coolant leak from the underside of the air bypass valve but it is not dangerously low, and the temp guage is normal. I am going to go to Autozone tomorrow and borrow the scan tool so I can pull the code. Can someone give me a basic crash course on using the tool? Thanks.

 

Plug it in, turn the key to "ON" and read the code. Make sure you have a list codes to interpret what it means. All the tool will give you is a number that you have to match on that list.

 

Or just write down the code, then Google it!

 

It depends on which scan tool you have. Some will display the code and the interpretation.
