06 tsx ipod hookup help

i hooked up a regular mini jack cable and plugged in the ipod and it sounded nice however it only played on the left side of the car, no sound from the right side.
So i figured it was the cable

I went to compusa and bought a belkin ipod cable for $20 and i hooked it up. Now all the speakers work in the car but all you get is music, no words. well you can hear the words very faintly but they sound weird

can anyone help me please?

hey kostantino,
just sounds like a connection issue to me. could be as simple as it mini jack plug not being fully inserted on either end.
what you need to do is determine whether your ipod headphone jack or your TSX input is damaged or dirty.
you obviously can check the ipod with your headphone. But you need to try another device (mp3 player, boom box, or even a laptop) connected to the TSX mini jack input to check that.

tried my stepdaughters cd player in there with both cords
and it did the same as before
so it rules out the players and the cords

i pulled out the cord a little out of the jack (in the car) and held it steady with my hand and it plays perfect

is the car messed up?

I've found that some headphone jack cables/adapters have a "shoulder" that's too big to fit properly in the TSX jack. I took an exacto knife to one of my cables to allow it to seat in the connector completely, after I had some of the same issues as you.

I seem to remember that when I first plugged my cable in I had some trouble getting it seated properly -- really had to jam it in there to get a good connection. I'd check it again now and report back, but my TSX is in the body shop.

So jam it and jiggle it, and if it still doesn't seem to work properly, yeah, I'd have it checked at the dealer.

[edit] Better yet, jswim probably has the answer!
