Thumbs up A/C fixed 04 TSX

My A/C issue did not have the same symptoms as the other A/C thread here. Mine stopped blowing any air from the air vents, not in auto or manual mode. I did not hear any unusual sound coming from the engine or inside the cabin.

Did a lot of reading here and watched a lot of YouTube videos and I also performed a diagnostic test per the Sevice manual (page 21-9). I got an error code of "N" - A problem with blower motor circuit. The fuse under the dash was ok and the relay under the hood was good. The culprit was the A/C Power Transistor. Went to the dealer and bought a new one for $53. 5 minutes later my a/c was working like a champ again.

I wanted to share this to hopefully help other owners out there. The dealer was asking for $120 just to perform a diagnosis.

My car is now 10 years old, I will be starting a new thread to discuss my ownership experience for those who maybe wondering the long term reliability of this car.

I had the same problem last year. Bought the part from an online Honda Dealer, and saw the DIY on YouTube.

At first, I thought the issue was with the blower, thank goodness it wasn't since that would have cost a lot more to replace.

FYI for others who may read this, the part # is 79330-SDA-A01. I was shocked that the dealer actually had the lowest price. Advance Auto is selling it for over $100. I am so thankful for Acurazine. Kudos to everyone who contributes to this site.

The dealer just replaced the transistor. Part was $94.00 labor $235.00. Seems at the rate the dealer charged me their labor rate would be at least $352.5 per hour that is about $781200 per year assuming 300 working days. I have seen posts quoting 20 minutes to 40 minutes to replace. Anyone know the official shop time for this replacement?

I can't speak for dealer rates, but it looks like you overpaid a bit. It was such an easy thing to replace, just remove two screws and swap out the transistor. If I include the time I spent on diagnosis, the whole process took me about 20 minutes. I did spent an hour or so reading and watching DIY videos but time well spent.
