Broken cup holder cover

Hey guys,

My girlfriends 3 year old nephew was messing around with my cup holders cover on my 07 TSX. Anyway's, he managed to somehow break it. If I close it and then push it, it doesn't open anymore. Is this an easy fix, or not really? Also, do these break quite frequently? Do most of you leave it open all of the time or close it?

Thanks,

Jeff

I leave mine open most of the time, but regardless, it shouldn't be TOO hard of a fix. Follow the instructions to install the short shifter into our car. It'll say how to get the piece off that the cover is a part of, I believe. From there, it's probably just a spring that came out of place. My "not an ashtray" cover did this once and a simple repositioning of the spring fixed it right up.

If you have an automatic, you might want to get a scan of the Helm's page(s) to get that trim piece off, as it's probably different than the manual tranny one (the one for the short shifter installation).

I open and close mine all the time and it's been fine for almost 4 years now, so I don't think it's particularly fragile. More than likely the dealer will replace it under warranty with no questions asked.

Sounds good! I will stop by the dealership and see what they have to say. Have you guys noticed a lot of scratches on your cover as well? The surface seems to be really delicate, and it always seems to scratch for me.

I leave mine closed unless I need it.

the cd cover tray, not an ashtry, and the cup holder has pretty much the same scheme in design, broke not an ash tray , and cd cover tray once, not hard to fix get some krazy glue and just find whatever is broken (usually the index tab that follows the "maze" and glue it back together all done =]

Kids go in the back seat. Haven't you figured out there aren't any breakable covers/switches, etc., back there?

If a kid can't control himself enough to keep his hands off the windows, he doesn't belong in my car.

I obviously have no kids, but I do have a dog, and he's for sure not allowed in the TSX. We got an old beat up 96 Maxima for him.

Get it replaced by the dealer, I don't think they'd question you too much on it.
