Wow, what the hell man? Was the car ever rear ended? What do you mean by interior lights?

This sounds like something you're going to need some one with a pretty solid grasp of electrical stuff on hand to sort out. My old Civic had the Christmas tree syndrome with the brake lights as well. It took me taking out the rear deck and all the trunk liner before I found that some numb nuts previous owner had something spliced into the wiring at some point and when it was removed, it was not put back correctly in the slightest. It took several hours and me completely diagraming out the wiring to get it sorted. It didn't help that half wires had been replaced with wire that was all the same color.

I believe the bulbs for the brake lights are dual-filament. It could simply be that the second filament used for the brake light has blown on both bulbs, which would explain why the taillights work, but don't get brighter when the brake is applied.

My husband had a similar problem with his RSX, when ever he would apply the breaks they would not light up. But when he turn on his headlight all the light would light up fine, but the break light would not work when applied.

We searched and found out that, it was the brake light switch, he replaced that and they work perfectly now.

Please note, that this was on an RSX, not a TSX.
