When I brake at low speed (20-30 mph), there is this "hissing"/"pss" sound coming from the brake, it is always there at low speed from day one.
I went to the dealership, the service guy said this is the sound of Hydrolic Brake they put on all Honda cars. Since I have never driven a Honda before, I don't know if that is true.
Anybody else has the same problem?

 

I have noticed the same noise. I will ask the dealer just to confirm, will keep you posted.

 

That's weird, because I don't hear the sound.

 

drive the demo car and see if that one has it. If not point that out to the service person.

 

The hissing sound is from the vacuum brake booster that provides power assist. It is normal on a lot of cars.

 

I bought my car 2 days ago and noticed the same hissing noise the minute I put the brakes on leaving the dealership. I thought they might just need to be "broken in" since the car had 5 miles on it. It's still doing it and is very annoying. I had a loaner TSX for 24 hrs prior to purchasing the current car and I did not hear this noise. I also have a friend that owns a TSX (bought when it first came out) and she has never had that problem. Has anyone been given an explanation and resolution to this problem ? I don't think it's normal.

I went to the dealer to get my 1st oil change today and asked about the brake noise. The service guy let me try the demo TSX. The demo car produced the same noise( the car was standing still though). He said the noise is from the vacuum brake booster--just as landerso said. He also said his MDX and Chevy both have similar noise when braking and it is normal.

I guess I'll just try to ignore the noise.

 

yeah.. it does that.. but how about brake squeeks during your first stop after you left your driveway?

everyone had experienced little problems with this car. but this is the first year produciton of this model, i expected these minor bugs but is a lot better than a regular supermarket honda cars. because it is a pure 100 percent japan built and japan parts for the tsx. i have a van from honda and it drive me nuts. a lot of bigger problems. and i have acura care extended warranty to 100k for my tsx. zero deductible.

 

Yeah I have the hiss. Kind of annoying, but not as annoying as how squishy my pedal feels before the car starts to slow.
