Abnormal electrical/computer issue with A/C
Abnormal electrical/computer issue with A/C
Hello all,
So I went to a mechanic to try to figure out what is wrong with my A/C. Initially it was a leak around the o-ring at the compressor. After replacing and recharging the system, the AC was working.
Not long later... when I would start the car, the A/C would run cool and then begin to cycle on and off. The compressor was turning and operating properly when the power was going to it however electrically it would just shut off.
I took it back and they took a look at the electrical wiring and determined that if they bypassed the computer, the AC would run fine. However when it was running through the computer it would turn off or something. Their conclusion was that it was something wrong with the computer.
Does this make sense to anyone? Would anyone be able to shed some light on the issue? Are there things I should watch out for when messing around with the electrical trying to troubleshoot this?
Input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Will

Its probably the relay, a common problem from what i've noticed looking at various threads about this car's A/C problems. The symptoms are just the A/C cycling on and off apparently. Its supposed to be a <$100 fix.
lmao. this is why a mom and pop shop will never touch my acura.
this is the only thing worng,
low chrage in ac system
bad ac coil(stator)
or perhaps the clutch relay
...thats all ive seen for the symptoms you're describing. yes there are other faults that can cause your problem, but i seriously doubt it.

It's still leaking freon - take the vehicle to a competent AC shop - they can use a sniffer to find the leak.
The computer controls the compressor via the system pressures. Bypassing and forcing the compressor to run could cause more damage to the system. Typically, when the system is low on freon, the compressor will cycle frequently. When the freon charge is too low, the compressor will not run at all.
