6 MY transmission moaning

I get a moaning sound from my transmission when I take off in first gear. If I get a perfect clutch release, I can avoid making the sound, but if I release the clutch too slowly, the transmission moans until I release, or press it back in.

Any thoughts?

You should probably have that checked out to be safe.

Finally brought my TSX in for examination.

It is the throw out bearing! It will be replaced under warranty of course, but now I'm thinking...

As long as they've got the transmission opened up - should I spend $330 on a lightweight flywheel?

Anyone have knowledge on how much real-world performance gains I might obtain?

Yup, that's the one. The service department can order it on Monday when they order the new throw out bearing.

I've done some research over the last hour and it looks like a 10.5 lb flywheel will give some off the line acceleration gains, yet still be heavy enough to retain good driveability.

My only remaining doubt is that some articles have mentioned a drop in low RPM "torque" (caused by the loss of inertia) in exchange for high RPM gains - not exactly what the TSX needs.
