my tint got scratched

I brought my car to the car wash at the mall, where they have a guy come around and wash it by hand, exterior and interior...and i come back from the mall an hour later and there's a scratch on my passenger side front tint...it looked seriously like he used a razor blade on it.....so i showed it to the guy but he didn't speak english, all he said was "ahhh" and "ohhh" and then i was like "uhm ok" and i called the tint place and they said it would be $50 to remove and replace it,...so unless i take it up with the company i'm going to have to just pay $50...this sucks

That sucks. This is the reason why nobody touches my car except me.
I always handwash myself. If I fuck the car up, then it's on me.

What brand tint do you have?
So you've already talked to the tint place that did your tint?

You gotta love how they play dumb after they've screwed up. It could be a lost cause so you might as well fork over the $50 and make it nice again. Sucks but whatcha gonna do, right?

i live in a stupid rich area so there aren't any do-it-yourself car washes...the apartments we're in has a car wash area, but there are parking spots in front of it for some dumb reason so no one can ever wash their car unless they stake out the spots...and even when you get the spot you have to manuever around other peoples' cars with the hose and hear the old women bitch at you that you got water spots on their camrys and lincolns and shit...its so dumb.

and yeah, paying $50 is my only option basically...

I feel ya Kawaii....that sucks. I use to live in an apartment complex where there was shared car wash areas and it sucked! No shade and you always had to wait to get a spot.

So therez no lifetime warranty on your tint? Next time I would just go in and act like you think the scratch was from something related to the install and see if they'll cover it under warranty.

How long ago did you get your tint? If it's pretty new see if they'll go down in price to like 30-40 bucks.

I don't believe tint warranties ever cover scratches and stuff. It usually only covers fading of the tint, bubbling of the tint and natural effects on the tint. If you have the money, just go get that window retinted. I suggest removing the bad tint yourself to save you some money. All you need is a razor, water and a free couple hours of your day.

Yeah I would do like VB said above. Just take the tint off yourself and bring it in. Then go in and tell them that you took it off yourself and see if they'll do it for cheap. Just be like "Man...I just got this like 5 or 6 months ago...and I already paid like 200 something dollars for it." If the dudes are cool, then they'll try to work with you.

You could also just leave it as is. Does it look super bad, like would other people notice it if they weren't looking for it?

sometimes they do it on purpose, i'll be suprised if the manager doesnt speak english.

well, you can try what tsx536 suggested, just say the tint ripped when you rolled down your window. worth a try, esp for $50
