get a lawyer...take your car to another dealership or mechanic and have them determine the cause of failure. Then begin the lawsuit against honda for failure to cover defective parts.

Mcc18 - take a stroll onto acura-tl site. TL owners with 6sp had to have trans replaced...looks like they replaced it under warranty though. Good luck.

I just e-mailed Matt and am sorry I was not following this topic
after my tranny experience.
My failure was noted right after delivery so there was no debate
on abuse. I am also older and they will give me less crap then
someone Matt's age.
If Matt has modded his car much, again they will be less responsive.
I do not like Honda saying that the tranny melted down after
some limited abuse. It's a frigging sports sedan and should
be built for aggressive driving.
Only Honda corp. knows what is really up since many tranny's
are shipped back for problem analysis.
I never knew what was failing in my cars tranny.
Good luck Matt!

Matt -
Sorry to hear about your situation. You said the clutch was blue from heat and that it was caused from a loss of trans fluid. I don't understand how the clutch/flywheel could become blue from that. the clutch would be blue from heat from slippage. That happens from abuse. They say the tires are 50% worn? How could that happen in the amount of miles on your car without abuse? Do you know what the actual measurements of the tread depth? If it is 50% worn, you will (and should) have a hard time convincing anyone you haven't abused the car.

Before you spend the money on an attorney, you may want to think about a few things.

1. Are all 4 tires worn evenly, or are only 2 worn indicating wheelspin and abuse?
2.Does the dealer have documentation, including photos, of the blued components, such as the clutch, flywheel, and pressure plate? If what they say is true, that could hurt your case in court.
3.How worn is the clutch friction disc itself? If it shows any sign of wear at only 7k, that would be damning evidence of abuse.
4.Could Acura claim the trans damage was associated with the collision damage?

Good luck sorting it out.

What are people doing to their cars to blow out transmissions?

I have a 6MT TSX and have been driving it since May 2003. I have over 14,000 kms on it and have driven it rather agressively at times but have yet to have any problems with the either the clutch, the engine or the transmission.

Any updates on your cases against Acura?

Just curious.
