When I open my trunk, it makes a click noise when it is just about all the way open. Does anyone else have this click when you open the trunk? It is coming from the drivers side and sounds like it is near the plastic covered support arm/hinge. I assume that it might be a wire that runs close to this arm, but can't see in there well enough to tell. I just got the creak sound from the rear cross member fixed and now this starts.

 

It's most likely caused by the trunk light wiring problem. It's a known issue and being recalled. The wire harness would rub against the hinge and damage the wiring.

 

isn't this only for the 04's? I have an 05 and I don't think it is included in the recall, is it??

 

It doesn't hurt to verify. You can peel back the trunk liner and inspect with a flashlight while opening/closing the trunk. Another possibility is the trunk support torsion rods that sit across the upper trunk space.

 

I have an Euro Accord '05 and it makes the same noise/click. I believe it has something to do with the mechanism that prevents the trunk from closing down when you open it.
