06 driver's door tough to close?

Had my 06 for 3 weeks now. Noticed since the beginning that I need to use a much heavier touch to close the driver's door than any other. I guess it's tough to describe, but the other 3 doors don't require much effort to close them. Just yesterday, I was trying to close my drivers door (definitely not slamming it), and it wouldn't latch. Went over to the passenger front door, used what I thought was the same amount of effort, and it closed on the first try.

I'm going to have my dealer look at it when I first bring it in, but I thought I'd ask if anyone else had similar problems. I know there do seem to be some more common problems (front seat problem from a previous thread a good example), I wasn't sure if other's experienced this.

No experience with this here. This does sound like a dealer - warranty issue though, they should be happy to lube up the hinges and make sure everything is working right.

My driver's door seems different from the other 3 doors. I guess it's like how you describe it, takes a little bit more effort to close it. Also, it doesn't make a nice "thunk" sound like the other doors, kinda sounds like loose screws inside when I close it most of the time. Once in a while I get that nice thunk. Doesn't bother me as much to have the dealer check it out, I guess if it gets worst I will have them take a look at it.

DN.TSX's post made me think that technically the driver's door is different from others: it has the power window switches, mirror control, and also a key lock. I'm not sure that should make it that much heavier such that a sufficient force on the other doors wouldn't be enough to close the driver's door.

If they had an unlocked TSX at the dealership, I'd try to see how it's driver door closed compared to mine. The one in the showroom wouldn't work, since you need the windows up to have a valid comparison.

Do you tend to hang on your door while talking with buddies? That's kinda hard on the hinges.

yea i'd definately take it back to the dealer to see what's up instead of trying to figure it out yourself. I'd imagine you'd probably have to open something up. If you do that and the dealer finds out, they might accuse you of breaking it. So i'd just take it to them so there's no questions asked.

I noticed this on my car as well too...on the very first day. I'll probably have them look at it when i have my first oil change done

Same here on the right hand drive models. The drivers doors seems to require extra force to close properly. I also tried new cars at the dealer and it was the same thing.

The '04 I had definitely had stronger springs than my current '06. The driver's door doesn't consistently latch on but it was something that did not bother me at all. Perhaps what you're experiencing is worse. I'm sure the dealership would take care of you if you report it.

I'm sort of glad others are seeing the same problem. I'm not sure I had much hope that the dealer would find a fix for it, now if they don't I won't feel as bad.
