With all these extra modifications to the transmission, I doubt this project will ever make it to the market.

The modifications to the transmission is for my personal insurance that I'll be able to get the power I want out of the motor to the wheels. This is not something that anyone going this route will HAVE to do (depending on the HP levels they are trying to achieve). My intentions is to explore the limits of the OEM components of this car so everyone else knows what to expect if they decide to go down this path. As of now (correct me if I'm wrong), no one has explored the limits of the factory OEM clutch, axles, motor mounts, tranny, engine, etc... which is what you must consider when going turbo over superchargers. I'm sure everyone running a Supercharger is happy with what they have and I'm sure the designers of SC kits designed it to work with factory components. As for myself, having to push a button or turn a knob to raise HP levels means my car has to be that much more prepared to handle these conditions.

I'm not saying everyone that is turbo will want to do this, maybe they just want to throw a turbo on and call it a day and that is also fine. Just don't expect to have 400 reliable WHP with factory components...

pics and vids to come

Props to you, GL.

If everything works out, maybe try to sell your idea/development to a brand company, you might get some rewards.

Well, both BigBen and myself have experimented with pushing the limits of the CT S/C kit (and for me, OEM transmission components) by adding more boost to a kit designed to function with OEM parts. I won't be pushing the power of a turbo, but I already personally experience minor and intermittment clutch slippage through high RPM 1st-2nd gear shifting, so I think you're correct in assuming that the OEM tranny can handle around 300whp before an upgrade is needed (guessing I'm around 270-280whp now). I will eventually upgrade my transmission (Quaife is in my sights as well), but for now I'm going to run the OEM stuff into the ground and see how well it holds up. Besides, I can't justify swapping out factory parts that still function well enough on a car with just 25k miles...

I'm also currently running water/methanol as an attempt to add more fuel while keeping the fuel system intact per CT's adjustments. If it's affect on my Roots blower is any indication, the decreased IAT and octane enhancement of the water/meth will improve the efficiency of your turbo better than it has for my S/C.

The kit I'm using (stage 2 Snow Performance) is almost identical in spec to the AEM kit you're looking at. It works well for me (boost-dependant injection), but I'm not so sure for your application. Instead, I might suggest going with a water/meth kit from Aquamist instead. JTso recommended I check them out, but for my application I thought it was a bit overkill. However, since you actually have tuning capabilities, it might be more effective for you since you can manually adjust the fuel mappings to inject individual percentages according to exact RPM/manifold pressure points.

I was thinking about the Aquamist kit but considering the AEM has everything I need at about half the price I think it will be the best option for me. My ECU has an input to control the meth injection so it should accomplish what I need it to. Thanks for the feedback, I too am experiencing major clutch slippage well before redline and well before I hit full boost. I attribute this to how fast the turbo spools and the spikey powerband as opposed to the linear powerband felt with the supercharger. I'm thinking it was a good idea to go with the smaller T04B BB rather than the GT35R because the response of the B will make my car so much more enjoyable on the street. I suppose on the track I would prefer the 35R but that will have to wait until I max out my present setup.

As one of the largest skeptics in this thread, I'm starting to get interested in this.

I can't wait for some pictures and possibly dyno data. I really, really want this to be a real and feasible setup for the TSX community.

Stay at it...

Show us a "functional" TSX w/ proper tune in a reasonable price range.

Yes it is a DD. As far as gas consumption, I used to get mid to high 3s to low 4s per tank and now I'm getting mid to low 3s. Stay tuned.

well K-Pro is on the blocks now, so the flood gates are open.

a turbo TSX won't be a rarity for much longer at all.

I would say there is no doubt that there will be a market for
turbo setups. K-Pro just about assures that.

Except they were asking JDMCL9T where he was located since he's, you know, the guy developing the turbo kit.
