sts turbo

has anyone done any research on this? it sounds cool but there are a lot of questions. most of the applications are for big v-8's and v-6's. would be interested to see how it works for a 4 cylinder.

They have an application for the Integra but I wouldn't pay a dime for it. It's a pretty dumb design. They say they've reworked the turbos to minimize lag but there's still a ton of tubing that needs to be pressurized which is guaranteed to lag. Also, the turbo is in a very unprotected space and could be damaged.

Conventional turbo headers are a much better design.

i saw this system being put on a camaro in "two guys garage" on speed

seemed like a very good idea

very easy setup and pretty good gain

dont see y it wont be just as good as turbo under the hood

only thing i would be worried about is "thiefs" trying to jack my shit

Because there are 7 million miles of plumbing to pressurize.

You want your tubing runs to be as short as possible and these guys have gone to great lengths to do just the opposite.

Also, why would you want an air filter located directly behind one of the tires?

Not to mention the amount of heat energy lost all the way back to the tailpipe.

I've heard of these but I never saw pictures or anything. What a horribly contrived design.

Numbers are one thing, drivability is something completely different. Every time you lift the throttle and get back on it, the turbo needs to pressurize that lenght of tube. The time it takes to do that causes boost lag. You'll still get boost, it will just take longer.

If you wanted to blow up a balloon, would you rather just put the balloon to your mouth or would rather blow it up through a garden hose?

this is an increidbly ineffecient way of using a turbo. you're going to get lag just for the fact the air has to travel further, and there is more pressure right at the exhaust header instead of downstream (past a cat?).

not to mention you have to run oil lines all the way back to the end of your car...

Maybe it's there for people who want to boost cars with not enough space for plumbing in the engine bay? Eitherway I'd rather have my turbo somewhere I can hear it spool up
